It is time to spend money on your holiday cottage! Not because I am suggesting its tatty or anything – just because 2009-10 is the last tax year that you can offset your losses from your holiday letting against other taxable income that you may have. This could make a huge difference to your tax bill and save you thousands of pounds into the bargain – something we are all keen to do! So if you were thinking of spending money on a new sofa, kitchen or even a re-paint money spent before 5th April 2010 will be able to be offset and money spend after that will not. If you need more information on this, let us know.

Spend to save on holiday lets!
Tuesday, December 29th, 2009We have joined Visit Kent!
Friday, December 18th, 2009We are delighted to announce that we have joined Visit Kent as an investor – promoting what is best about the county to all our visitors . The Visit Kent organisation, headed by the dynamic Amanda Cottrell, promotes the wonderful diversity of this beautiful county to visitors in both the UK and abroad. A policy that we heartily agree with! Kent boasts not only more castles than any other county in England, but with its extensive coastline can offer you anything from a traditional bucket and spade holiday to some of the best kite boarding on the Kent/Sussex border at Camber Sands. This long stretch of coastline also has some truly sensational walking from the cliff tops of the White Cliffs at Dover, across the unspoilt and rural countryside of the North Downs to the bluebell woods and apple orchards of the Weald of Kent. We are delighted to be part of Visit Kent and look forward to bringing our expertise in holiday lettings to bear in promoting the county as a whole! And if you want some ideas to whet your apetite, then have a look at the things to do section of our website which is brimming with places to visit and events to enjoy whilst you are here in Kent – we look forward to welcoming you to this stunning county!

Christmas Lights!
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009We do love this time of year as dusk arrives and all the lovely twinkley lights come on and turn our pretty Kent villages into a winter wonderland. Just one quick walk from our offices, we took these lovely photos of Wye village – a really picturesque village in the day light which turns quite magical in the dark at Christmas time! Why not come and see this lovely scene and you could even drop in and see us or come and stay in one of the lovely holiday cottages we have on offer in this part of rural Kent!

Golf Open 2011 already booking!
Thursday, December 10th, 2009
We are already letting out houses in and around Sandwich for the Golf Open 2011.
We are experiencing unprecedented enquiries from people looking to stay in the area for the period of The Open, not only spectators but also corporate enquiries and even the golfers themselves. We have a specialist Golf Open representative working for Mulberry Cottages who has not only got essential local knowledge but also has let out properties for two previous Open Championships. She has wonderful contacts, critical for securing good tenants and is also married to a golf professional.
Our website which is constantly being updated lists all the properties currently on offer, with those closest to Royal St George’s being at a premium. For those who own property in and around the area it is an ideal opportunity to earn some extra money and rent out their house for the period of The Golf Open which is the 9th to 18th July 2011. Our representative will come and value your home and give you full information about what to do next. Those properties which are marketed first will get the pick of the tenants and profit from being secured nearly two years before the Championship.
So before it’s too late contact Mulberry Cottages and find out how your home can earn you some extra income.
