Holiday Cottage in Doddington, Kent Sleeps 32+8
These self catering holiday barns in Kent have been beautifully converted to provide high quality accommodation ideal for large groups. The owners of this Kent holiday barn have made very clever use of light with contemporary glass, wood and steel staircases and banisters shedding light right down through the layers of this wonderful luxury barn.
A mixture of contemporary and antique furniture adds a quirky but comfortable touch to the interior of this antique barn in Kent. This holiday let has large squashy sofas abound in the seating areas so that however large your group there is room for all.
Approached up a long private drive this stunning holiday Barn complex affords complete privacy and seclusion with views across the surrounding Kent farmland. Each self catering holiday barn in Kent has its own kitchen but the very spacious kitchen of the main English country barn would be ideal for catering for large groups. A particular feature is the enormous dining hall with seating for all around the bespoke table.
The self catering barns are surrounded by Kent woodland and fields with lovely views of the Kent countryside from many of the rooms, there is ample parking on the driveway with a private garden surrounding each holiday house and a private heated swimming pool, tennis court and wood-fired hot tub to enjoy during your stay in these Kent barns.

The holiday cottage barns can sleep 40 between them making this ideal for large group accommodation or a family gathering. The main barn has a large kitchen, is fully fitted with two dishwashers, large fridge, freezer, double range oven, extractor and utility room with washing machine and dryer. A double height barn door leads into a double height glass walled atrium with wonderful views across the surrounding farmland. The spacious dining hall with lovely refectory table and additional tables can seat up to 40.
There are five double bedrooms on this floor, the master bedroom has a king size double bed and the other four bedrooms have twin beds that can either be made up as a double or two singles - if you have a preference please let us know when booking. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with bath, integral shower, WC and wash hand basin. Bedroom 2 has an ensuite shower room with a further family bathroom on this level and separate cloak room.
Glass wood and steel stairs lead to the first floor where the very most has been made of the wonderful proportions of the building. There is a sitting/play area with Playstation 2 (sorry no games provided), and TV. A galleried landing leads to the formal seating area with banks of wonderfully comfy sofas surrounding a central coffee table, TV and DVD. The area leads to a large walk in cupboard with adjoining WC and spiral staircase leading down into the annexe.
At the end of this landing is an enormous family room with four single beds and a pair of bunk beds, sleeping six in all, with an ensuite bathroom with walk in shower and bath, wash hand basin and WC.
The annexe is approached from either the spiral staircase or from its own front door and comprises double room with twin beds, and ensuite bathroom with bath, shower, WC and wash hand basin.
Outside the main barn there is a private garden with large patio area. There is parking for several cars on the driveway. There is a wood-fired hot tub for 6 people situated in the woods behind the Barn.
The two smaller barns, sleep 4 each, two in twin beds and two on sofa beds and are inter connected if required. They have separate kitchens each with washing machine, fridge, oven and hob, extractor fan. The living rooms have large comfy sofas (one is a double sofa bed) TV and coffee table with a log burning stove and an ample supply of logs for those cooler evenings. There is dining for four and French doors lead from these sunny rooms into their secluded patio areas.
In these barns, the bathroom is on the ground floor (with bath, integral shower, wash hand basin and toilet). Stairs from the hallway lead to the first floor where the pretty galleried bedroom with two single beds (set up as a double bed) are in the eaves of the building.
The fourth barn is a Kentish Oast and sleeps 10. The kitchen has dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, electric oven and hob, microwave and extractor fan and there are doors onto the sunny south facing patio. There is dining for 10 at the table and oak flooring throughout, together with comfy sofas grouped around a coffee table. A TV, DVD and Sky TV complete the scene, and this sunny room looks out over the patio area and garden to the rear of the property. There are four bedrooms, a family room on the ground floor has a double bed and two single beds. On the first floor there are three further bedrooms, two twin rooms and a bathroom with bath and hand held shower, wc and basin and the master bedroom with ensuite shower room with shower, basin and wc.

This holiday barn is part of complex of converted barns at Great Higham Farm in Doddingham, Kent. The self catering English property is about a mile from the Kent village of Doddington with pub, garage and general stores and children's playground. There are several pubs near to this holiday barn offering good pub food ideal for those who do not wish to cook in this self catering holiday let, the nearest of which is in Milstead, Kent.
The English country house is part of the Torry Hill Estate and holidaymakers will have full use of the estate to enjoy during their stay at the Kent holiday let, including its 30 km of woodland paths and bridle paths for visitors to explore more of the Kent countryside. On the estate there is an established circular walk through the elegant parkland and along a Victoria carriage drive. In the spring Kent's bluebell woods and blossom from the cherry orchards are a sight to see! There is a riding stable near to this luxury holiday barn in Kent where horse riding and mountain bikes are available for hire together with maps of recommended routes through the estate's woodland. In addition for a fun day out of the English country barn, clay pigeon shooting can be organised by prior arrangement, at a cost of £45 per person which includes cost of cartridges.
The county town of Maidstone is 15 miles to the west, from this particular holiday let in Kent, with the historic cathedral city of Canterbury within 25 minutes. Access to the Channel Tunnel is at junction 12 of M20 and it can be reached in half an hour - crossings take 35 minutes, hereby you can enjoy more than just Kent when you come to stay in this luxurious and large holiday barn. For day trips to London, there is a regular service every half hour from Sittingbourne in Kent, not far from this holiday barn, which takes about an hour. The North Kent coast is only a few miles away, where the reserves at Elmley and Oare offer some of the best bird watching in the south-east for you to enjoy whilst you stay in Doddington, Kent, especially in winter.
Further afield this self catering holiday house is well placed for visits to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens, the naval dockyards at Chatham or a visit to the wonderful medieval castles dotted right along the Kent and Sussex coast (we have more castles in Kent than any other county!).
During the Olympic Games (27th July to 12th August) Southeastern will be operating a Javelin shuttle service using high speed trains from St Pancras International and Ebbsfleet International Stations to the Olympic Park in Stratford. Five trains per hour will run between these stations, with a further two departures from Ashford International each hour and one departure an hour from Faversham. Ebbsfleet International Station is one of the official 'Park and Rail' Services and just 10 minutes by high-speed rail link into the centre of the Olympic Park.
This is a carbon neutral development and all heating is supplied by the estate's own coppiced woodland at no charge to the holidaymaker. In addition much of the electricity comes from a renewable source. Dogs are welcome as long as they behave themselves! Swimming pool available for use May - September. Please note that the gardens are not fully enclosed (except Plum Cottage). A refundable security deposit of £1000 is payable in case of any breakages/damage.
