The Hayloft barn is situated on a rural country lane and surrounded by open farmland with easy access to reclaimed marshland in particular The Saxon Shore Way. This area is ideal for walking and cycling and there are regular sightings of heron, marsh harrier and egrets. Within easy walking distance of an excellent local pub, complete with log fire and good food served throughout the day. The Cathedral City of Canterbury is close by as well as the costal towns of Whitstable, Sandwich and Herne Bay.
Canterbury is a medieval city which is surrounded by the original city walls. Here you can visit the famous Cathedral and St Augustine's Abbey, both of which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A whole day can be spent just exploring the Cathedral, Crypt and Cloisters. Canterbury also offers many other tourist attractions including, Historic River Tours, the Canterbury Tales attraction, and extensive shopping especially in the new Whitefriars centre.
Surrounding Canterbury there are many other attractions - for children the wild animal parks at Howletts and Port Lympne are great locations for days out. For garden lovers Kent and East Sussex boast many famous and beautiful gardens to visit. Gardens include Goodnestone Park Gardens, Mount Ephraim, Great Dixter in Northiam and the famous Sissinghurst Castle Gardens. A lovely afternoon can be spent exploring these gardens and enjoying tea and cakes in the tea room afterwards.
With the proximity of the Channel Tunnel and the port of Dover, day trips to France are so easy - you can also take the Eurostar to Paris which only takes 2 hours.
For golfers there is an 18 hole course on the outskirts of Canterbury, also the links course at Royal St George's in Sandwich and the Royal Cinque Ports in Deal. For fishermen, Marshside Fishing Lakes where a day ticket cost £6 is just a mile away.

Just a little note to say Thank you for the lovely time we had at the Hayloft.
The cottage is superb, of the highest quality in fact the best we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few 5* properties over the years. It takes a lot of hard work to maintain it to that standard so really well done.
We hope to come back in the not too distant future. Thank you very much for the wine by the way. Best wishes.

Dear Richard and Lindsay
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your truly fantastic house in such a wonderful location. We've all had a great Christmas and New year catching up with our family and friends, and considering I booked the Hayloft a year ago for our Christmas trip home, it was worth the wait!
Thanks for your warm welcome, the flowers were lovely and as we head back to Dubai we will tell our friends of the Hayloft and the exceptional accommodation. We hope to see you in the future, in the meantime we wish you both a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. Thank you x x x
December 2012 - New Year period
What a gorgeous home away from home the Hayloft is! The perfect English Cottage, adorable, made all the better by having the Christmas tree and decorations up. If only we had time to stay longer. Loved the little touches, everything was thought of, such as the Christmas mince tarts, wine and bread. Will recommend to all. Thank you so much.
December 2012
Quite simply the very best self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in - by far.

Great stay once again and given that we are girls who like our comforts, this place really hits the spot. We had a lovely few hours out in Whistable but mostly we just chilled, chatted and feasted. (Oh and drank some wine!) We will be back again next year as we've not found anywhere to match this for a girlie break. Many thanks x x

Dear Richard & Lindsay
Your lovely cottage was both very comfortable and most enjoyable. The surrounding area was truly magnificent. My grandchildren even managed a day at the Beach in Broadstairs. The fish and meat in the area was fresh and tasty and was put to the test on your barbeque-- Delicious!!!
Thanks again.

There was once a young couple from Kent Who put up a hayloft for rent. From our point of view What a great thing to do We think Lindsey’s a lady and Richard’s a gent. So we came from Derbyshire one, two three For a week of southern sunshine and sea. Imagine our surprise thought we’d won first prize When you prepared the place so beautifully. So we’ve got this questionnaire now. Asking us why and what and how. What can we say? About our holiday. The only word that comes to mind is ‘Wow’.

Thank you for your cordial welcome and your helpfulness throughout the whole week we spent at the wonderful 'Hayloft' at Chislet. The house is the best holiday house we ever had; an architectural highlight with nothing left to improve, as well the equipment was perfect. We'll recommend your house without any reservation and hope to come back in time.

What a wonderful 5 star experience The Hayloft has been! We have enjoyed our time here very much and the warmth of both the house and our lovely hosts has been perfect. We have enjoyed our days riding at the Burstead Manor riding school (highly recommend) and our afternoons exploring this beautiful countryside. We are sad our break is over and hope to return once again to this wonderful architectural marvel and the beautiful area. Thank you so much.
