The oak front door of the barn leads into the large open plan kitchen and dining area. This room has a fully tiled floor with under floor heating; the kitchen area is shaker style with black granite worktops. The kitchen is fully fitted with all machines and includes a large range style oven and gas hob which is perfect for all entertaining. There is a family size Victorian pine dining table to seat 8 and a large inbuilt dresser with a colourful display of china and glass. Large double doors lead directly from the dining area outside onto the south-facing decked part of the garden. Adjoining the kitchen there is a downstairs shower room with power shower, WC and basin. The kitchen also has a spacious larder and plenty of shelving for guests use.
The spacious living room leads from the kitchen/dining room and has been furnished in a modern contemporary style with comfy sofas (one is a sofa bed) and oak flooring. A feature wood burning stove in the centre of the room creates a really lovely atmosphere. Above the living room is a galleried landing area which has been designed as children's area complete with TV and DVD.
Beyond the living room is a twin bedroom with ensuite wet room, WC and basin and would be suitable for anyone with mobility problems.
Upstairs are two further double bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a king sized double bed, clothes storage, TV and basin. The second bedroom has twin beds, clothes storage and TV. There is a family bathroom for these two bedrooms which has a bath, separate power shower WC and basin.
Outside is a sunny decked area complete with table and chairs, outside lighting and a charcoal barbeque. There is a small area of lawn beyond and attractive shrubs surrounding this area. To the front of the barn is a large gravelled area for secure parking and a brick built entrance ramp.
This property offers disabled access for wheelchair users.
The Hayloft barn is situated on a rural country lane and surrounded by open farmland with easy access to reclaimed marshland in particular The Saxon Shore Way. This area is ideal for walking and cycling and there are regular sightings of heron, marsh harrier and egrets. Within easy walking distance of an excellent local pub, complete with log fire and good food served throughout the day. The Cathedral City of Canterbury is close by as well as the costal towns of Whitstable, Sandwich and Herne Bay.
Canterbury is a medieval city which is surrounded by the original city walls. Here you can visit the famous Cathedral and St Augustine's Abbey, both of which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A whole day can be spent just exploring the Cathedral, Crypt and Cloisters. Canterbury also offers many other tourist attractions including, Historic River Tours, the Canterbury Tales attraction, and extensive shopping especially in the new Whitefriars centre.
Surrounding Canterbury there are many other attractions - for children the wild animal parks at Howletts and Port Lympne are great locations for days out. For garden lovers Kent and East Sussex boast many famous and beautiful gardens to visit. Gardens include Goodnestone Park Gardens, Mount Ephraim, Great Dixter in Northiam and the famous Sissinghurst Castle Gardens. A lovely afternoon can be spent exploring these gardens and enjoying tea and cakes in the tea room afterwards.
With the proximity of the Channel Tunnel and the port of Dover, day trips to France are so easy - you can also take the Eurostar to Paris which only takes 2 hours.
For golfers there is an 18 hole course on the outskirts of Canterbury, also the links course at Royal St George's in Sandwich and the Royal Cinque Ports in Deal. For fishermen, Marshside Fishing Lakes where a day ticket cost £6 is just a mile away.

Just a little note to say Thank you for the lovely time we had at the Hayloft.
The cottage is superb, of the highest quality in fact the best we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few 5* properties over the years. It takes a lot of hard work to maintain it to that standard so really well done.
We hope to come back in the not too distant future. Thank you very much for the wine by the way. Best wishes.
This house was fantastic. It was like home from home. Our party consisted of two children under the age of 4. There was so much to do inside and outside of the property. The log fire came into good use!! We've already re-booked the house again!!
Dear Richard and Lindsay
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your truly fantastic house in such a wonderful location. We've all had a great Christmas and New year catching up with our family and friends, and considering I booked the Hayloft a year ago for our Christmas trip home, it was worth the wait!
Thanks for your warm welcome, the flowers were lovely and as we head back to Dubai we will tell our friends of the Hayloft and the exceptional accommodation. We hope to see you in the future, in the meantime we wish you both a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. Thank you x x x
December 2012 - New Year period
What a gorgeous home away from home the Hayloft is! The perfect English Cottage, adorable, made all the better by having the Christmas tree and decorations up. If only we had time to stay longer. Loved the little touches, everything was thought of, such as the Christmas mince tarts, wine and bread. Will recommend to all. Thank you so much.
Quite simply the very best self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in - by far.
Great stay once again and given that we are girls who like our comforts, this place really hits the spot. We had a lovely few hours out in Whistable but mostly we just chilled, chatted and feasted. (Oh and drank some wine!) We will be back again next year as we've not found anywhere to match this for a girlie break. Many thanks x x
Wow! What an amazing barn - we have all had the best birthday weekend ever. We would love to come back here it is all perfect, as well as the location, and Billy is just the most beautiful horse. Can't put into words how great this place is. This birthday girl has had a fantastic weekend.
Dear Richard & Lindsay
Your lovely cottage was both very comfortable and most enjoyable. The surrounding area was truly magnificent. My grandchildren even managed a day at the Beach in Broadstairs. The fish and meat in the area was fresh and tasty and was put to the test on your barbeque-- Delicious!!!
There was once a young couple from Kent Who put up a hayloft for rent. From our point of view What a great thing to do We think Lindsey’s a lady and Richard’s a gent. So we came from Derbyshire one, two three For a week of southern sunshine and sea. Imagine our surprise thought we’d won first prize When you prepared the place so beautifully. So we’ve got this questionnaire now. Asking us why and what and how. What can we say? About our holiday. The only word that comes to mind is ‘Wow’.
A delightful extended stay in your beautifully appointed barn. We appreciated all the attention to detail and consideration you made to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Without doubt the finest holiday cottage in England.

A really clean, comfortable and homely place to stay. The whole barn layout is perfect and well designed. We loved the location, excellent for days out with the children. We would love to come back again. Many thanks for your generous hospitality and kindness. We have some lovely memories of Dymchurch Steam Railway and Canterbury Cathedral to take home.

Fully deserves the 5-star rating from 'Visit England'. We cannot recollect a self-catering establishment to equal The Hayloft. Thank you!
Mr and Mrs B West Sussex 7 August 2010
Thank you for your cordial welcome and your helpfulness throughout the whole week we spent at the wonderful 'Hayloft' at Chislet. The house is the best holiday house we ever had; an architectural highlight with nothing left to improve, as well the equipment was perfect. We'll recommend your house without any reservation and hope to come back in time.

What a wonderful 5 star experience The Hayloft has been! We have enjoyed our time here very much and the warmth of both the house and our lovely hosts has been perfect. We have enjoyed our days riding at the Burstead Manor riding school (highly recommend) and our afternoons exploring this beautiful countryside. We are sad our break is over and hope to return once again to this wonderful architectural marvel and the beautiful area. Thank you so much.

Thanks for giving us a very special experience of our first visit to Kent. The house has got everything to feel comfortable. The surroundings, the fields, the scenery, the sea and the cliffs. We could have stayed much longer but duty is calling. We will definitely consider a re-visit and recommend The Hayloft to our friends. Thank you again.

A very enjoyable week made even better by the sunshine. Thank you for the welcome pack of goodies. We found everything very comfortable, especially the 'L' shaped sofa and the overall warmth of the building. We would recommend a visit to Walmer Castle, lunch at The Duke William at Ickham, Whitstable, St Margaret's Bay and walk over the cliffs.
