This historic Kent self catering holiday cottage is an attractively restored medieval cottage retaining many original features. It is only 5 minutes walk to the 15 Century square of this picturesque Kent village with its gorgeous Tudor black and white half timbered houses and a private castle making it one of the most picturesque villages in Kent, often used in period film and drama, in fact the whole village itself is listed! This Kent holiday cottage has been prettily furnished in a traditional style to give it a home from home feel.

The beamed ceilings of this holiday cottage in Kent enhance the sense of cosiness and warmth of the interior. A good selection of books, guides and maps in this holiday cottage help to while away those quiet moments or plan your next visit in this most historic part of Kent.

Lavender Cottage Holiday Accommodation

The cottage is approached from the gravelled parking area by a delightful garden with a pretty brick path banked by fragrant Lavender plants.

The ancient front door opens to a light dining room with French doors leading to the garden, there is a dining table with seating for four, and an archway leading to the sitting room. The cosy sitting room has attractive views over the front garden, a beamed ceiling and a delightful Inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove to curl up in front of. There are three arm chairs, a sofa and a coffee table to while away the evenings in front of the fire whilst playing cards or board games, all of which are provided. There is a TV with DVD, video, CD player, free wireless broadband and local information leaflets displayed in order to plan your days out.

From the dining room there is a compact kitchen overlooking the very pretty rear garden and Kentish downland countryside with fridge, electric oven with extractor, hob and microwave. There is a washing machine under the stairs and a modern black and white tiled bathroom, basin, with modern fittings, heated towel rail, heater, WC, basin and bath with shower over.

Upstairs is accessed by a wooden staircase to a large landing with child gate, a small single pull out sofa bed and large built in wardrobe; the pretty beamed double bedroom has a double bed, built in shelving, dressing table with delightful views to the quiet country lane.

Outside there is the most quintessential English country cottage garden, the front overlooks a quiet country lane which is the North Downs Way National Trail and Ancient Pilgrims Way to Canterbury, with Chilham Castle parkland beyond. The rear garden has lovely landscaped flower beds being a haven for butterflies and wildlife. There is a pretty lawned area with wooden garden table and chairs seating 4. The bottom part of garden adjoins the adjacent property and winds down to reveal lovely far reaching views across open fields and a small orchard.

This self catering holiday cottage is situated in Chilham, Kent. Chilham is a picturesque beautifully kept medieval village set on a hill about 5 miles to the south of Canterbury. The village square is surrounded by beamed medieval Kentish buildings and is such a good example of a truly English village, that it has been used many times for photo shoots! In fact the whole village is in a conservation area and has been listed. It attracts visitors from all over the world. The Kent village itself has two public houses; a tea room, post office and gift shop and on the edge of the village a farm shop selling local produce that you can enjoy during your stay at this luxury holiday cottage in Kent. The nearby Kent village of Chartham has a village store.

For public transport near this holiday cottage, the village has both a railway station and bus service between Canterbury and Ashford. Canterbury itself has a wealth of history to explore and visit being a World Heritage Site.

For foodies why not take a trip to Whitstable to sample the oysters or buy fresh fish direct from the fisherman at the quay or explore the internationally renowned vineyards that Kent is known for with Biddenden Vineyards only a 30 minute drive away. There are several stunning gardens to visit within an easy reach including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter.

Basket of logs for the wood burning stove are provided for your arrival - please note you will need to purchase more for the duration of your stay. A refundable security deposit of £50 is payable with the balance of the rent. Short breaks available. Sorry no pets.
