Holiday Cottage in Molash, Kent Sleeps 8 + 2

Tastefully furnished in a modern contemporary style, this Kent holiday cottage has been finished to an extremely high standard. Conveniently located just a short drive from both the vibrant city of Canterbury where you can soak up the cosmopolitan atmosphere or Ashford where you can catch the fast train from Ashford International Station and be in London within 40 minutes. The coast is also very close by, a 30 minute car journey will take you to the pretty pebble beach of Sangate and Hythe or if a sandy beach is what you are after Folkestone is a little further along the coast. The Barn is a very special self catering holiday cottage set in peaceful Kentish countryside and would make an ideal destination for long vacations and short breaks throughout the year.
This luxury self catering Kentish Barn is a truly lovely property for those wanting a peaceful rural location for their holiday home. Traditional features as well as very high attention to detail has created a real home from home which would make a perfect base for those wishing to explore this beautiful area of Kent. Completely brand new and renovated to extremely high standards, this barn is warm and welcoming, fabulously decorated and furnished with under floor heating, and with a warming wood burning stove, making winter evenings really cosy. A special feature of this Kent barn is the half an acre south facing garden complete with apple orchard, the perfect place for children to run off some excess energy. The feature terrace area is complete with dining table, chairs and parasol where you can relax, entertain your guests, and enjoy a barbeque. Guests can soak up the tranquil atmosphere; why not crack open a bottle of bubbly to enjoy while unwinding?
For a truly restful break without cooking, the owner is also happy to arrange for a chef to visit The Barn on a Friday evening and cook you and your guests up an authentic Indian feast for £30 per adult and £10 per child. A vegetarian menu is also available. Please ask for more details.
You approach The Barn by a large sweeping driveway that leads onto a gravel drive with parking for 5 cars.
Steps lead up to the impressive oak door and into the wonderfully spacious, light and airy open plan living area. The Barn has been luxuriously finished with beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork and large windows allowing the light to flood into every corner of the room. The dining area has an impressive oak refectory table that comfortably seats 10 people, colourful tub chairs surround the table giving the dining area a very contemporary feel. An abundance of crockery, cutlery and glasses has been provided for use during your stay. French doors lead from the dining area onto the pretty terrace.
The living area has been stylishly furnished with soft cream leather sofas, dark brown leather tub chairs, occasional tables and table lamps as well as interesting pieces of artwork adorning the walls. White shutters and delicate curtains dress the 3 sets of French windows that lead out onto the garden allowing you to choose how much or how little natural light flows into the room. A beautiful double sided wood burning stove is the focal point of the room and adds a touch of cosiness particularly on a crisp winter's day. A flat screen TV and DVD player as well as broadband an ipod docking station and radio have been provided by the owner. A snug area with a comfortable sofa and shelves is the ideal place for children to sit and relax whilst reading a book.
The state of the art kitchen is situated in the opposite end of The Barn and has been finished to a very high standard with every conceivable appliance including double oven, electric 5 ring hob, extractor fan, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave oven, glossy matt cream units with soft grey worktops and a central island give the room a luxurious feel. The large utility room, next to the kitchen has a washing machine and drying area, an iron and ironing board have been provided. A further door leads into the downstairs cloakroom with wash hand basin and WC.
Bedroom 3 is on the ground floor and has a kingsize double bed, dressed in crisp cotton bed linen and finished off beautifully with colourful plump cushions, bed side tables and lamps add a romantic feel to the room. The windows over look the back garden, the perfect place to wake up and enjoy a morning cup of coffee and croissant. The en-suite bathroom is beautifully finished with shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC. Fluffy white towels have been provided for use during your stay.
Open stairs lead from the living area onto a stunning beamed gallery landing. Bedroom 2 to the left of the landing has a beautiful beamed ceiling with plush cream coloured carpet, kingsize bed dressed with cotton bed linen and colourful cushions, bedside tables and lamps finish the room off perfectly whilst the floor to ceiling window invites the natural light to stream into the room. The en-suite bathroom is fully equipped with bath, separate shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC, heated towel rails and as well as fluffy cotton towels make the room very inviting after a day sightseeing. A fitted wardrobe offers plenty of storage during your stay.
Bedroom 4 is another double room, once again with fabulous beamed ceiling, a dark brown leather 4'6 bed as well as a fitted wardrobe offer very comfortable accommodation.
The spacious family bathroom is also fully beamed and beautifully finished with bath, separate shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC as well as heated towel rails.
The fully beamed master suite is luxuriously finished with a truly stunning kingsize bed dressed in shades of bronze, cream and gold, a fabulous antique mirror, and standard lamp only add to the feeling of luxury. A thick cream coloured rug on the floor as well as the sumptuous chandelier hanging from the apex ceiling make this room a uniquely stylish and romantic place to be. A fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers offers plenty of storage during your stay. The en-suite bathroom had been superbly finished and includes a shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC. Towels are provided.
A futon bed on the spacious landing area offers space for a further 2 guests.
The holiday home has its own half acre plot, including parking for up to 5 cars on the driveway, a large terrace with stunning views of the surrounding countryside only add to the magical feeling you get when you visit The Barn. A BBQ has also been provided for use during your stay.
This stunning self catering holiday home in the heart of Kent if located close to the vibrant city of Canterbury which boasts a wealth of visitor attractions. The skyline is dominated by the stunning Cathedral dating back to 597AD the oldest in Britain. In 1170 Archbishop Thomas Beckett was famously murdered in the Cathedral and thousands of Pilgrims play homage each year. The holiday apartment is 100 yards from the Cathedral Gates! The ancient ruins of St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church all form part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nearby are the remains of a Norman Castle built on 1080 by the Normans and the large stone keep was largely constructed in the reign of Henry1 (1100-1135) all are reminders of the City's history, heritage & culture. Other attractions include, The King's mile, St Dunstan's, West Gate Towers, Northgate and The Canterbury Tales. You can take one of the River Tours and absorb the City with a boat trip along the River Stour taking in the architecture and scenic views. There are museums, walking trails or guided walks to help you enjoy the narrow winding lanes. Canterbury is best explored by foot. Canterbury is a place steeped in tradition and is also a modern and vibrant city with welcoming bars, pubs, nightclubs, fine restaurants, and a High Street with independent and high street names. Kent County Cricket ground is 1 mile distance from the holiday apartment and holds it's annual Cricket Festival every August. Canterbury Golf Course is 1 mile distance from the City Centre and was designed by Henry Colt ain 1927 at the same time as designing Wentworth. There are two famous "links" courses at nearby Sandwich, Royal St Georges (home to The Open Championship in 2011) and Princes (Open Golf qualifying course).
If you travel a little further out, you can visit nearby Herne Bay & Whitstable both magical seaside towns where brightly coloured beach huts line the water's edge. Whitstable has a range of attractions from the Oyster festival held every July, charming cafes, pubs, famous seafood restaurants on the sea front, quaint shops, art galleries, jet skiing and other water sports all serving to provide an unspoilt charm.
Howletts, The Wild Animal Park, at Bekesbourne, on the outskirts of Canterbury, offers a great family day out, The 90 acre site of Howletts Wild Animal Park offers the chance for visitors to enjoy beautiful ancient parkland that is a year-round family attraction.
The long sandy beaches of this part of Kent are within a thirty minute drive where the sand stretches as far as the eye can see. There are many water sports available and it's a great place to visit all year round. Details of water sports lessons are available on the 'things to do' section of our website. For children the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Steam Railway that winds its way along the coast is a truly special day out - or a way to get to the beach as it stops in several spots very close by!
Ashford International Station is a short drive away, with the fast train taking just 40 minutes into central London, what more could you ask for, a day out in the fast paced capital taking in the sights and sounds and then returning to the peace and tranquillity of The Barn where you can enjoy the surrounding countryside from the back garden whilst enjoying a well earned glass of wine or beer.
