This wonderful 4 Star, Gold Award, Kent self-catering holiday home offers the perfect place to base a family holiday or to relax with friends whatever the time of year. The fabulous location offers convenient links to both the beach and the City of Canterbury as well as the mainline station which will take you straight into London.

This holiday cottage in Wingham near Canterbury, Kent, has a lovely open plan living/dining area; the modern kitchen has a spacious and light atmosphere and is fully equipped with every conceivable appliance to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

There are stunning views from the garden over surrounding countryside. This Kent vacation house has 4 comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms, beautiful enclosed garden with a pretty playhouse, the perfect place for the little ones to let off steam whilst you sit and enjoy a glass of Pimms or a chilled bottle of beer. The garden is well planted with an abundance of fruit trees and pretty cottage garden plants giving a feeling of peace and tranquillity.

Gobery Hill Cottage Holiday Accommodation

You approach the house via a 5 bar single gate. There is space for 2 or 3 cars. The front door leads to a spacious hallway with tiled floors and a bright welcoming rug. The kitchen to the right of the hallway has maple coloured units and light coloured worktop complimented beautifully with colourful wall tiles. There is a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, freestanding electric oven with hob and grill. A country style shelving unit holds an abundance of colourful crockery adding to the feeling of being in the countryside.

The spacious sitting/dining room offers plenty of space for all guests and has been sympathetically decorated by the owner with cosy brown leather and fabric sofas and plump cushions as well as modern side tables with lamps and a low glass coffee table giving the room a homely feel. The working woodburner gives the room a traditional country cottage feel and is the perfect place to snuggle up next to and watch a DVD after a long day sightseeing. A flat screen TV and DVD player is provided.

The dining area to the back of the room has a stylish dining table and seats 8 people comfortably. A special feature of this room is the large french doors which allow the natural light to flood into the room, whether summer or winter you can look out and admire the beautiful location that the cottage offers. The doors lead out onto the fully enclosed garden making this the ideal place for children to play or dogs to roam. Modern lighting as well as local art adorning the walls makes this holiday home a very desirable place to stay.

Bedroom four is on the ground floor and has twin beds dressed in crisp cotton bed linen, bright throws and plump cushions give the room a cosy feel. A double wardrobe offers lots of storage during your stay. The room benefits from a large window which overlooks the pretty back garden.

The family bathroom is also on the ground floor and has a modern white bath and shower over, wash hand basin and WC. The owner has thoughtfully provided fluffy white towels for use during your stay.

At the back of house there is a useful lobby area with door leading to the garden, with plenty of hanging space for coats, shoes and wellies.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a superking sized bed with pretty bed linen and double aspect windows, there is a large wardrobe, dressing table and matching bedside tables with pretty lamps, this beautiful bright room has fantastic views of the garden and surrounding farmland. Bedroom three with twin beds, dressed in fresh white linens, with bright curtains and matching cushions. Bedroom two has a modern double bed with brightly coloured cotton bed linen, vibrant curtains and bedside tables with lamps add to the comfort of the room, there is a chest of drawers and a smaller cupboard with hanging space.

There is a shower room on the first floor which is well fitted with double shower, wash hand basin and WC, along with a heated towel rail.

The garden is a lovely feature of this house, completely enclosed, perfect for children and dogs to play in safety, there's even a large playhouse to keep the children entertained!

At the front of the property, with separate entrance there is a games room with table tennis/pool table, flat screen TV and DVD player, Wii and a number of board games and books. Comfortable chairs and bean bags have been provided making this the perfect place for children and adults alike to have fun. There is a washing machine and airer in this room.


Local Information about Wingham, Kent

Gobery Hill Cottage is situated in a convenient location surrounded by open countryside in the pretty village of Wingham with a good selection of locally sourced organic produce. The Dog Inn is a pub and restaurant is famous locally! The Wingham wildlife park is just a short drive away, a great family day out. Canterbury is just six miles east. The coastal towns of Whitstable, Sandwich, Ramsgate and Broadstairs are also nearby.

Canterbury is a medieval city which is surrounded by the original city walls. Here you can visit the famous Cathedral and St Augustine's Abbey, both of which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A whole day can be spent just exploring the Cathedral, Crypt and Cloisters. Canterbury also offers many other tourist attractions including, Historic River Tours, the Canterbury Tales attraction, and extensive shopping especially in the new Whitefriars centre.

Surrounding Canterbury there are many other attractions for you to visit during your stay at this holiday cottage in Canterbury - for children the wild animal parks at Howletts and Port Lympne are great locations for days out in Kent. There is also the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway which is a miniature steam railway which can take you down to the beach at Dymchurch - both children and adults love it!

Sandwich is quite an enchanting town with winding period streets and beautifully preserved historic houses from the Medieval, Tudor and Georgian times. Sandwich is one of the Cinque Ports and was once surrounded by sea on three sides. Over many years the river silted up and the large ships were replaced by the smaller boats found on the river today.

For garden lovers Kent and East Sussex boasts many famous and beautiful gardens to visit during your stay at this holiday cottage in Wingham. Gardens include Goodnestone Park Gardens, The Salutation Gardens, Mount Ephraim, Great Dixter in Northiam and the famous Sissinghurst Castle Gardens in Kent. A lovely afternoon can be spent exploring these Kent gardens and enjoying tea and cakes in the tea room afterwards.

With the proximity of the Channel Tunnel and the port of Dover to this holiday cottage in Canterbury, day trips to France are so easy - you can also take the Eurostar to Paris which only takes 2 hours. Refundable security deposit of £250 is payable. Saturday changeover at this property during high season. Short breaks available outside of high season. Cot and highchair are provided (A second high chair can be provided but you would need to bring your own harness). Pets welcome. A winter heating supplement of £5 per night is payable from 1 October to 30 April.
