The coastal towns of Whitstable, Sandwich, Ramsgate and Broadstairs are also nearby.
Canterbury is a medieval city which is surrounded by the original city walls. Here you can visit the famous Cathedral and St Augustine's Abbey, both of which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Canterbury also offers many other tourist attractions including, Historic River Tours, the Canterbury Tales attraction, and extensive shopping especially in the new Whitefriars centre.
Surrounding Canterbury there are many other attractions for you to visit during your stay at this holiday cottage in Canterbury - for children the wild animal parks at Howletts and Port Lympne are great locations for days out in Kent. There is also the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway which is a miniature steam railway which can take you down to the beach at Dymchurch - both children and adults love it!
Sandwich is quite an enchanting town with winding period streets and beautifully preserved historic houses from the Medieval, Tudor and Georgian times. Sandwich is one of the Cinque Ports and was once surrounded by sea on three sides. Over many years the river silted up and the large ships were replaced by the smaller boats found on the river today.
