Pickersdane Barn is approached via a private gravel drive with raised cottage garden plants surrounding the entrance of the barn. Large oak doors greet you at Pickersdane Barn, you walk through the doors into the large open plan living area with wooden flooring throughout creating a light and spacious ambience. The kitchen is at one end with a large dining area to seat six comfortably. The kitchen is modern with country cream units and wooden work surfaces. It has been fully fitted with appliances including electric hob, electric oven, freestanding fridge-freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is plenty of china, glass and cooking utensils for guests' use.
The dining area has a modern dining table and six chairs in a light wood finish. With the white china this is a very attractive area to entertain in - perfect for a special occasion.
The living area has two comfortable sofas, thick woollen rugs, occasional tables and table lamps give the room a cosy feel, the perfect place to sit and relax. There is a large TV and the owner has left a selection of Books and board games for use during your stay. Double oak doors open directly onto the fully enclosed back garden, the ideal place to sit and enjoy a morning cup of tea or a chilled glass of wine after a day exploring the local countryside.
Stairs lead from the living area to the first floor where there are 2 bedrooms, the first bedroom has twin beds dressed in fresh cotton bed linen, bedside tables and pretty lamps compliment the room perfectly. There is a wardrobe offering plenty of storage during your stay. The second bedroom also has twin beds which are bright and modern. The family bathroom has a large shower cubicle WC and wash hand basin, fluffy cotton towels have been thoughtfully provided by the owner.
Pickersdane Barn has a fully enclosed private garden with table, chairs and parasol. There is a separate gravel parking area for holidaymakers' use.
The self catering Kent holiday cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Brook. Brook itself is nestled below the North Downs adjoining the chalkland nature reserve and is surrounded by farmland. Pickersdane House has direct access via a gate from the back garden to the historic Pilgrims Way walk where you can walk from the house all the way into Canterbury enjoying the stunning scenery as you go.
Locally you can go riding, have a day's fishing or try out some of the links golf courses in and around Kent. Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens are 45 minutes drive from Pickersdane Barn, perfect for a day out during your stay.
Wye village is less than three miles away and is a delightful walk through the Kent countryside. Wye is a quintessential English village which is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It boasts a thriving farmers market, every first and third Saturday of the month - this is the perfect chance to stock up on fresh local produce and locally crafted gifts for friends and family.
For those wishing to make a day trip to France, Kent offers both the Eurostar Train at Ashford and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone which will transport you to a French location in 30 minutes.
A traditional Kent pub is just a few minutes walk down the road, where you can relax in the restaurant and enjoy delicious home cooked food and try some of Kent's finest ales.
Leeds Castle is located about 20 miles from this Kent self-catering holiday cottage and is one of the most beautiful castles in Britain. With a moated castle, spacious grounds and even a maze there is plenty to keep everyone amused for a whole day out. For those who like excitement Leeds Castle also has a Go Ape attraction which is a high wire climbing adventure through the treetops.
