This Kent cottage is conveniently located with easy access to the cathedral city of Canterbury and the high speed train link from Ashford which can take in you into the city within 37 minutes offering the best of both worlds, a day in the capital followed by an evening in a country house in front of the open fire with a glass of mulled wine.

As soon as you arrive at Pickersdane House you know you have chosen to stay somewhere extremely special. You enter the garden through a pretty picket fence and walk through a cottage garden with a beautiful stream running through it. The original 17th century door greets you and welcomes you into the pretty hallway with stairs to the first floor.
There is a large family room decorated in calming shades of cream with floral curtains, the exposed brickwork and inglenook fireplace give the room a touch of luxury and comfortable winged chairs make this room the perfect place to sit and relax with your favourite book and a nice cup of English tea.
The sitting room to the right of the hallway is beautifully presented with beamed ceiling; comfortable sofas surrounding a huge inglenook fireplace complete with fully working open fire and create a wonderful impression. Colourful lamps and rugs finish the room off beautifully.
A further hallway takes you through to the spacious country kitchen and dining area. White painted floor boards, beamed ceiling and yet another fireplace greet you. A large oak extendable table comfortably seating 8 is the perfect place to host a family meal after a day sightseeing. The kitchen is fully equipped with every conceivable appliance including range cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave oven.
A door leads to a passageway with study area to the rear of the house, a stable door gives you direct access to the cottage garden where you can enjoy the peaceful sounds of the of the stream that runs through it. A utility room with washing machine and water tank leads from this room.
A rear lobby complete with terracotta tiled floor is the perfect place for coats and shoes to be stored. A second staircase leads to the first floor and has 4 double bedrooms. The master bedroom has an antique 4 poster bed dressed beautifully in colourful bed linen, the vibrant red carpet and inglenook fireplace give the room a romantic feel. A free standing oak wardrobe provides plenty of storage during your stay. Bedroom 2 is also a double room, a kingsize bed with canopy over give the room a luxurious feel, bedside tables and lamps finish the room off perfectly. A large oak chest of drawers has been provided for storage. Bedroom 3 and 4 both have twin beds and crisp cotton bed linen with views of the surrounding countryside.
The family bathroom is decorated in a traditional style with roll top bath and wash hand basin set in a pine dresser, the owners have thoughtfully provided fluffy cotton towels for use during your stay. A separate shower room with WC and wash hand basin is situated next to the family bathroom.
One of the magical things about Pickersdane House is the garden area; the front gate leads across a herring-boned brick path to the main garden at the rear. There is a stream with a bridge leading up to a bank which overlooks the Wye nature Reserve, an outside table and chairs has been provided for use during your stay and offers the perfect place to sit and enjoy the stunning scenery that surrounds the house. Various grass pathways are cut through the downland pasture
with wild flowers, roses and herbaceous beds this truly is an enchanted garden and the perfect place to escape and enjoy the peace and tranquillity that the property affords.
The self catering Kent holiday cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Brook. Brook itself is nestled below the North Downs adjoining the chalkland nature reserve and is surrounded by farmland. Pickersdane House has direct access via a gate from the back garden to the historic Pilgrims Way walk where you can walk from the house all the way into Canterbury enjoying the stunning scenery as you go.
Locally you can go riding, have a day's fishing or try out some of the links golf courses in and around Kent. Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens are 45 minutes drive from Pickersdane House, perfect for a day out during your stay.
Wye village is less than three miles away and is a delightful walk through the Kent countryside. Wye is a quintessential English village which is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It boasts a thriving farmers market, every first and third Saturday of the month - this is the perfect chance to stock up on fresh local produce and locally crafted gifts for friends and family.
For those wishing to make a day trip to France, Kent offers both the Eurostar Train at Ashford and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone which will transport you to a French location in 30 minutes.
A traditional Kent pub is just a few minutes walk down the road, where you can relax in the restaurant and enjoy delicious home cooked food and try some of Kent's finest ales.
Leeds Castle is located about 20 miles from this Kent self-catering holiday cottage and is one of the most beautiful castles in Britain. With a moated castle, spacious grounds and even a maze there is plenty to keep everyone amused for a whole day out. For those who like excitement Leeds Castle also has a Go Ape attraction which is a high wire climbing adventure through the treetops.
