The Manor House is quite amazing, steeped in history. With a host of original features including oak beams, original windows, herringbone exposed brick work and inglenook fireplace. It has been beautifully interior-designed with luxurious furnishings and fabrics, wonderful throws on the beds and silk lampshades - every detail has been thought about. It would not be difficult to compare The Manor to a five-star country house hotel.
A special feature must be the stunning drawing room which boasts oak beams and the herringbone brick exposed walls. A fantastic fully working fire is set within the inglenook fireplace creating a wonderful ambience, perfect for relaxing in on sumptuous sofas after exploring all that the local area has to offer.
Heron Manor is set within its own grounds with wonderful views of the stunning surrounding open countryside with fantastic walks, this property offers so much more to the holidaymaker. A short walk takes you into the pretty village centre which boasts 2 pubs, both serving excellent food, a traditional village tearoom and even a gift shop, the church is also worth a visit and has been the setting for several TV series and even a feature film.
It is not every day that a property like this comes onto the holiday lettings market, and for those lucky enough to stay here they will not be disappointed!
The cottage is approached from the gravel driveway with plenty of parking for several cars. An original Tudor door takes you into a small lobby area which leads into an enormous lounge complete with beamed ceiling and inglenook fireplace. Comfortable sofas surround the fireplace, tapestries adorn the walls, silk lamps and brightly coloured throws make this the perfect room place to relax in after a day's sightseeing. A sofa bed has been provided for 2 extra guests if required.
A door leads to the newly fitted kitchen with modern cream coloured units and oak effect work surfaces, electric oven, gas hob, extractor hood, fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher. A separate cupboard houses the washing machine.
Stairs lead from the lounge area to the first floor. A large master bedroom has a stunning beamed ceiling with kingsize bed dressed in fresh white cotton bed linen, bedside tables and colourful lamps give the room a romantic feel. A chest of drawers offers plenty of storage space during your stay.
The second bedroom has a single bed dressed with blue and white striped bed linen, bedside lamps and colourful throws add to the comfortable feel of the room. Hanging space as well as a chest of drawers has been provided offering plenty of storage.
A brand new, well equipped bathroom complete with double ended bath, separate shower cubicle, wash hand basin and separate WC, fluffy cotton towels have provided for use during your stay.
This self-catering holiday cottage is situated in Chilham, Kent. Chilham is a picturesque beautifully kept medieval village set on a hill about 5 miles to the south of Canterbury. The village square is surrounded by beamed medieval Kentish buildings and is such a good example of a truly English village, that it has been used many times for photo shoots! In fact the whole village is in a conservation area and has been listed. It attracts visitors from all over the world. The Kent village itself has two public houses; a tea room, post office and gift shop and on the edge of the village a farm shop selling local produce that you can enjoy during your stay at this luxury holiday cottage in Kent. The nearby Kent village of Chartham has a village store.
For public transport near this holiday cottage, the village has both a railway station and bus service between Canterbury and Ashford. Canterbury itself has a wealth of history to explore and visit being a World Heritage Site.
It boasts a good range of restaurants and bars, a new shopping complex and many individual boutiques and its busy cafe society that make this a must during your stay in this self-catering holiday cottage in Kent. There is also bustling farmers market at The Goodshed in Canterbury. To explore there are many historic sites to visit including the fabulous Belmont House and Garden near Faversham and the spectacular Leeds Castle, well known as one of the most beautiful castles in England.
The nearby village of Wye has a bustling Saturday farmer's market or you can explore the renowned foodmarket in Canterbury at The Goodshed. For foodies why not take a trip to Whitstable to sample the oysters or buy fresh fish direct from the fisherman at the quay or explore the internationally renowned vineyards that Kent is known for with Biddenden Vineyards only a 30 minute drive away. There are several stunning gardens to visit within an easy reach including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter.
Not far from this holiday cottage in Kent is the hotel complex of Eastwell Manor offering a wonderfully relaxing retreat for spa and beauty treatments for you to make the most of during your stay in Kent. There are also lovely walks from the cottage through the thousands of acres of Forestry Commission woodland that surrounds Chilham, it is also situated on the ancient Pilgrims Way. For Fisherman there is chalk stream brown trout and course fishing available locally from Mid Kent Fisheries in the village. Chapel Down Vineyard near Tenterden is well worth a tour and tasting of its delicious award winning English wines.
All in all, this self-catering holiday cottage in Kent is in a wonderful location for a relaxing break and yet is within easy reach of motorways, the beach and even the Channel Tunnel (25 miles) for a day trip to France! There is a refundable security deposit of £175 per week. Off road parking for 2 cars. Friday changeover in high season, short breaks available outside of high season.
