The large dark wood table in the dining room seats 8 and has a matching side cupboard. There are wall lights, beams on the walls and a very old oak floor. This room has a large homely open fireplace and, despite being in such an old low ceilinged cottage, is a surprisingly light double aspect room.
The library area (off the main hallway) provides a cosy seating area and book shelves with a selection of books and DVDs. An Italian travertine floor, with under floor heating, leads through to the exciting new lounge area, with a vaulted beamed ceiling, a corner leather sofa and two armchairs, TV, oak occasional tables, a standard lamp and glass doors that wrap around three sides of the room. The main wall opens with two fully retractable concertina doors giving the impression that the whole room is now open to the garden. There is a small, lit patio area immediately outside this room.
Steep, winding cottage stairs lead to the first floor with another large hallway with more beams on the walls and ceiling, oak floor, an exposed brick chimney and a leaded light window. There is a stunning integral stained glass window. The three bedrooms lead off this hallway.
Door to main bedroom, which has a king size double bed, raised on an oak platform with blue lights inset into the platform. A wardrobe and chest of drawers provide ample storage. This room has three small cottage windows. A main feature of the room is the copper bath which is very deep and has central taps and is also situated on the raised platform, next to the bed. Round the corner in this bedroom is a generous shower, fully tiled with walk in shower, wash hand basin and toilet. A separate door from this shower area leads back to the main upstairs hallway.
Second bedroom has a double bed, with bedside tables, lamps, wardrobe and chest of draws. This room is cosy but surprisingly light with 4 small windows and spot lights. There is an en-suite bathroom with ball and claw bath, with central taps and shower attachment, a hand basin and WC. Fluffy cotton towels have been provided by the owner.
Bedroom three has a double bed, bedside tables and lamps. It has an integral stained glass window showing 24 panes of British birds.
Outside there is an enchanting sunny garden with lawned area, table and chairs, benches, a floodlit ornamental pond, a wisteria covered walkway and many quite areas to sit in the peaceful environment and listen to the birds or watch the squirrels. Around the garden are Dickensian style streetlights. A gardener manages the garden and although she is normally at the cottage during changeover time it is possible that she may be present on an occasion during your stay.
