Local Information about Kirdford, West Sussex

Roundwoods is ideally located for you to enjoy an abundance of things on your doorstep, why not visit the stunning National Trust Petworth House, home to a wonderful collection of paintings including local scenes by JMW Turner, who worked and stayed here, stroll out into the extensive park with its herds of roaming deer around the lakes and then finish off the day with a cream tea in the traditional English tea rooms.

A little further afield you might like to visit West Dean Gardens, open all year and featuring a Walled Kitchen Garden, an amazing 300 foot long Edwardian pergola, a spring garden and beautiful parkland walk and arboretum with views over the South Downs.

For the more adventurous among us why not try your hand at go-cart racing at Goodwood or place a bet on the horses, maybe golf is more your thing or perhaps try your hand at flying in a 1943 Harvard IIB aircraft and swoop and soar in the skies above Goodwood and the South Coast.

Why not have a day out at the beach, Brighton is a 50 minute drive away and has something for everyone to enjoy, whether it is sunbathing on the famous pebble beach, strolling along the promenade with an ice cream or trying your hand at one of the many water sports that are on offer. You could finish off the day with a fish and chip supper from one of the many fish and chip shops.

It's been a real treat to share your retreat. It's felt much more like a house swap than a holiday let; the decor & books are lovely; the surroundings exquisite and the wildlife enchanting. Our hope is that you're able to keep it like this. Thank you so much.

We had a great week at Roundwoods! The house is beautifully finished and we loved the surroundings. The boys enjoyed making a fire in the fire pit and roasting marshmallows. We also did a lot if geocaching. there are some nice trails around here. I'm sure we'll come back again!

We had a wonderful peaceful weekend. Visited by blue tits, great tits, great spotted woodpeckers, squirrels, rabbits and something that ate our raw steak in the night!! The wood burner was a real treat in the evenings for a very cosy lounge. And the fire pit was fantastic for an afternoon and evening adventure in the garden - the campfire sausages were a hit! A peaceful retreat, Thanks.

What a beautiful place! We arrived in the snow and explored the amazing garden. Staying here has been a truly wonderful experience. The house is so well equipped with a lovely homely feel, all the personal touches with the decor make it all the lovelier. The log burner kept the whole house really toasty warm and cosy. Roundwoods has to be, by far the best holiday cottage I've ever stayed in, a really magical experience, especially for our children. Hoping to be back to experience it all again in the summer! Many thanks!
