The Blanford Area makes up the northern quarter of Dorset, surrounded by agricultural countryside. It benefits from a wealth of charm with many idyllic villages in which you can enjoy your cottage holiday. Cottages in Blandford have proximity to the coast, but are in lovely rural settings. The opportunities for walking, cycling and horse riding during your cottage holiday are endless. Many country pubs can be found in the Blandford Area for a long lunch or evening drink, and our self catering holiday cottages give you the opportunity to take advantage of the many restaurants and pubs in the Blandford Area.
Blandford Forum is the main settlement, a medieval market town on the River Stour known for its stunning architecture and lively marketplace. Holiday Cottages in Blandford Forum are predominantly based in Georgian townhouses, as the town was entirely rebuilt in the 1730’s after a large fire. During your holiday you may wish to attend the famous Georgian Fayre or the Great Dorset Steam Fair which take place during the summer months.
Holiday Cottages in the village of Bryanston occupy an idyllic location, perfect for exploring Blandford Forum, Wimbourne Minster and the wider landscape of "Hardy's" Wessex, also within easy reach of Poole harbour and the seaside town of Weymouth. Bryanston village is home to a famous public school.
Holiday cottages can also be recommended in the Tarrant parishes. The Tarrant is a tributary of the River Stour springing from the base of Cranborne Chase, which makes a wonderful setting for your holiday cottage. The cottages are often wonderful old converted farm buildings, surrounded by beautiful countryside and farmland.
In the same way there are several parishes with beautiful holiday cottages along the river Winterbourne. The land surrounding the cottages is rural with a mixture of pasture, arable and historic parkland.
The attractive village of Milton Abbas is home to many delightful whitewashed and thatched holiday cottages. Milton Abbas was the first planned settlement in England so there is plenty of interesting history to discover during your cottage holiday.
Why not come and enjoy a cottage break in the Blandford Area with Mulberry Cottages?
