Hi all, well I thought I might introduce myself. My name is Jane and I am a brand new member of the amazing team at Mulberry. Although my immediate experience is in the hospitality industry I feel that there are many similarities to the tourist...
Cottages in the south Kent area include New Romney, Dungeness and Littlestone. Cottages in this area have views of the White Cliffs of Dover and France on a clear day. Many cottages in New Romney, Dungeness and Littlestone have spectacular views of the sea. Come and enjoy a great relaxing cottage holiday in New Romney, Dungeness or Littlestone.
Dungeness is an unspoilt area on the southern most corner of the bay that stretches from Folkestone to Romney Marsh. It is an area of special scientific interest, has a renowned bird sanctuary, observatory and is protected from future development. Cottages in New Romney, cottages in Littlestone and cottages in Dungeness are all located in the largest area of shingle beach in Western Europe and a vital ecological area.
Cottages in New Romney, Dungeness and Littlestone have easy access to the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch steam railway. These miniature steam trains meander 14 miles all along the coast to Hythe, a wonderful way to enjoy the scenery. Stunning views of the countryside and sea can be enjoyed from a cottage in New Romney, Dungeness or Littlestone. In addition, the lifeboat station at Dungeness is open to the public with a stroll through Derek Jarman's Quirky driftwood garden a local novelty.
Cottages in Dungeness are near to the sites of no fewer than 5 lighthouses that have been built since the reign of James I in 1615. They have moved progressively closer to the coastline over the centuries, as shingle has built up and the sea retreated. Dungeness cottages are not far from the existing lighthouses.
Littlestone is a village near New Romney, Dymchurch and Hythe, built in the 1880's by Sir Robert Perks. Its name derives from the fact that the shingle found here is smaller than elsewhere. Cottages in Littlestone have access to a large golf course, with its landmark redbrick water-tower. Littlestone cottages are mainly (converted in some cases) fisherman's homes.
Cottages in New Romney are within walking distance of The Pilot Pub, renowned for its seafood with the Old Smokehouse offering a wide range of smoked fish and fresh fish readily available from the local fishermen. From most cottages, Folkestone, Dover, Ashford, Royal Tunbridge Wells and other major Kent towns are all easily accessible by car or train. Come and enjoy a great family holiday in New Romney, Dungeness and Littlestone cottages.
