"Running Cotswolds Linen has given me a natural next step into holiday letting"

Bena, owner of The Coach House Seven Sprints - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire | Sleeps 8

Bena is a businesswoman running a successful laundry company in the Cotswolds.  She had come across Mulberry Cottages through her business and already had an idea about holiday letting.  Getting to know Becky England in our Cheltenham office convinced her that this was the way forward.

Bena bought The Coach House when a private school was closing and the house was their gym.  She took 2 years to convert the building into 2 properties with an interconnecting door, whilst working full time.  The properties needed a lot of work and Bena led the project throughout, despite her busy schedule. She found the process great fun and very rewarding in the end.  One side a 3 bedroom cottage and the other a 4 bedroom family house. Her sons have now grown up and left home and she didn't need the same amount of space, so she moved to the smaller half.

She did consider long-term letting the main house but felt it might be intrusive to her privacy having someone permanently living next door.  Holiday letting gave her the flexibility to combine the houses when the family are at home or receive an income if they were not.

Bena’s experience in running a laundry company made it ‘a natural step into holiday letting’ as she had gained lots of ideas from talking to customers and how they go about letting their properties.  She had real doubts about sharing her home with others but has found, since she started letting in early 2018, that she really enjoys the interaction and that the guests have been friendly,  pleasant and clean!

Bena, like many of our owners who are on site, prides herself on meeting the guests personally and welcoming them to her home.  She believes in giving them a very brief introduction to the house and then knows that if they have any problems she is only next door.

Bena has found that magic combination the perfect mix of flexibility and income, when it's just her - she lets it, and when friends and family are around - she doesn't.
