If you've ever fancied life on the ocean waves then Captain's Quarters is perfect. Stylishly decorated to resemble a comfortable and relaxing sea captain's accommodation, and full of lovely quirky features.
"Walking into the apartment is a seafaring voyage wrapped up in naval history and seaside."
The nautically designed interiors of Captain’s Quarters combined with the sea views from the regency bay windows, give the impression to any visitor that they are standing on the bridge of an old ship.
Owner Liz decided to adorn this wall space with a specially commissioned antique seafaring map. She used an online company and the piece was sent to her as made-to-measure wallpaper.
Liz has carefully selected artwork throughout the house in keeping with the maritime theme. Aside from prints by famous Margate resident JMW Turner, she was lucky enough to be able to include a family heirloom, a limited edition Cunard print commemorating QE2’s 40th Anniversary Cruise, kindly given to her by her Naval Captain Godfather and his wife.
The tropical theme in the bathroom was designed to juxtapose with the rest of the house, ‘I wanted it to feel like the ship had docked at an exotic island and you were stepping out onto the deck, hence the wooden decking flooring.’ The trellis was created by Liz to appeal to children, she acquired the wicker base from a garden centre and wove and stuck on the vines, birds and butterflies.
Liz expresses the importance of shopping around and mixing quality items with unique inexpensive finds. She acquired the brass top table from ‘Facebook Marketplace’ for £25.00 and sourced an authentic leather upholstered Captain’s chair in Margate antique warehouse ‘RG Scotts’.View Captain's Quarters Here...
