Deal High Street has been voted winner, from 500 entries, of the Telegraph title of High Street of the Year! Congratulations to Deal, it seems that the decision was made because the town has many new small businesses springing up, meaning that residents of this lovely Kent coastal town do not have to get their car keys out to go shopping. The splendid new volume of Pevsner describes Deal as ‘unlike anything else in England’.
There were many rival towns vying for this accolade, Leek and Ramsbottom, Bridport and Malmesbury, but, as the Telegraph reported, ‘Deal clinched it, it might not seem a big Deal, but it is an encouraging example as a new Deal’.
We have some really lovely places to stay – Deal Beach House, is a luxurious and charming 1930’s three story holiday cottage by the seaside within a whisper from the beach.
Just down the road is The French House, a charming Grade II listed Victorian cottage on the edge of the conservation area and seafront of the historic seaside town of Deal has light open living spaces and sleeps 6+1.
Another property with charm and elegance, also sleeping 6, is The Grand Victoria – situated along a pretty parade of white stucco buildings that blend into the bohemian and charming surroundings of this lovely town.
No need to get your car out, enjoy a relaxing break away with everything on your doorstep – we send our congratulations whole heartedly to Deal – winner of this year’s Telegraph title of High Street of the Year!
