Bigger and better than previous years, the UK’s answer to Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday starts on Lucky Friday (13th).
When local musician, Bob Tipler, dreamed up a Cajun night at his local in Hastings, he never imagined that in just 5 years, it would have grown to what is now a 5 day jamboree! Bob, along with event organiser Adam Daly, is responsible for what is now known as Fat Tuesday, the name being a literal translation of ‘Mardi Gras’, the huge festival in Rio di Janiero and Hastings is following in its footsteps.
Details of the opening night, Friday the 13th of February are on the website and come rain or shine, the much loved Umbrella Parade returns on February 15th. with floats, marching bands and plenty of audience participation, the procession leads to the town centre, recreating the New Orleans spirit.
