That’s right folks, Buddy Holly will be in Maidstone from the 11th – 14th April 2012 at the Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone. Ok so it’s not THE Buddy Holly but the ever popular and aptly named “Buddy” the hit musical.
Buddy tells the story of a young man from Texas who changed the face of music forever but just 2 years later, died tragically in a plane crash along with JP Richardson (the Big Bopper) and 17-year old Ritchie Valens. It was, as the song says, “the day the music died.”
For the past 22 years, the hit musical has been playing to packed theatres worldwide winning a host of awards and gaining the title “the world’s best rock and roll musical.” This time around Buddy will be performed by the locally acclaimed Airbrush Productions with one of our very own Mulberry Cottages team treading the boards with them. Jon our administrator, who has been fortunate enough to be a part of Airbrush productions for the past three years, will be taking the role of Hipockets Duncan, the Texan radio DJ who discovered Buddy Holly.
Featuring over 20 hits, including That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy, Chantilly Lace and La Bamba, BUDDY brings the infamous story to life… and is sure to have audiences dancing in the aisles!
