Come and stay over here Mr Depardieu!
The biggest topic of national debate in France right now is Gerard Depardieu. It has been reported that he has paid over 145 million Euros in French taxes throughout his life and has had enough. Francois Holland, the French president is now considering 75% tax on earnings over a million Euros.
He has recently been welcomed by Putin and granted Russian citizenship but we are wondering if Mr Depardieu would like to come over here to Kent or Sussex. We have some wonderful holiday cottages that may suit him down to the ground – closer to France and with our thriving film business, it could be a win-win situation! He said recently to Mr Holland: “I am leaving because you believe that success, creation, talent, anything different must be sanctioned.” To which reply “WE ARE DIFFERENT! Come to us!”
Come and spend some time here in the UK, you will love Mount Noddy with it’s fabulous space and gardens, gorgeous rock pool and view over the South Downs.
If you would like something smaller so the French government realise that you like to live simply, The Prince Regent is perfect, a beautifully restored showman’s carriage, with views across to Bodiam Castle so you can imagine how life could have been if French taxes were a little less severe!
Birch Pavilion could suit you too, in the middle of nowhere, with deer grazing in the grounds, plenty of peace and quiet to learn your lines. With Tunbridge Wells a short drive away, you can enjoy their choice of theatres, maybe even get a job or of course in no time you can be in London and the wonderful West End.
We would also recommend Berkeley Cottage, with it’s lovely four poster bed and movie den, you would be able to catch up on some old films and remind yourself of all the hard work you have done in the past, when you scraped together a living at the beginning of your career.
We would welcome you Mr Depardieu!
