Cottage owners’ last minute preparations for a fabulous Christmas

Here at Mulberry Cottages we want to help anyone with a holiday cottage create the most festive atmosphere for guests at this special time of year, but what are easy ways to make the difference for your seasonal visitors?

Top tips for our festive season ahead…There are plenty of things you can do in advance to ensure this time of year runs smoothly to allow your guests to have a wonderful stay, whilst enjoying quality time with your own loved ones.
Be prepared
Offer something a little different, it’s a special time of year, so why not prepare a traditional Christmas hamper – small or large it could include mince pies, Christmas cake or Christmas crackers? For New Year’s Eve a bottle of prosecco or some chocolates would be welcome – the makings of a New Years’ Day restorative breakfast wouldn’t go a miss.
Set the scene
A Christmas tree and decorations are an expectation for your guests at this time of year. Keep things simple with classic greens, whites and silvers,  reds and golds – all make a statement. You can check Mulberry Cottages out on Pinterest for further inspiration.
Small details make all the difference
Do you know a fantastic place for Christmas lunch? A cosy pub on a great walking path? Somewhere to distract the kids on Boxing Day? You are always welcome to leave a personal note for your guests.
All important maintenance checks
A home-cooked Christmas dinner needs a clean and functioning oven. Check the plumbing, is your service up to date – just in the case of a cold snap. Double check the TV and entertainment facilities to be sure that the season runs perfectly.
Going away?
Our owners need a break too… so if you are making plans to go away let us know who is being left in charge. Occasionally there is the odd problem or query during this season, this can be easily fixed and the quicker we can contact you the more effective we can be, do let us know your contact details or your housekeepers or chosen supports contact over the season.
Last minute breaks
Spontaneous breaks should be anticipated, last year we fully occupied almost every cottage almost right up until the day of arrival for both Christmas and New Year! Make sure you’re ready for them. Contact your housekeepers and establish their festive working hours. Invest in key boxes to remove the need for meet and greets.
Not forgetting
Online bookings are more likely during this period so please update your agents with any bookings you may be taking yourself.
So if you’ve got your own property and like the sound of having some help with bookings and admin, to take the strain out of the whole thing, then just get in touch, we’re in the office 7 days a week on 01227 464958 or email info@mulberrycottages.com
