With all the action that has been going on this summer and all that is yet to come, it is easy to forget the humble country fayre, which has been quietly making everyone feel delightfully British since time began… where else can you find old ladies haggling over books, an echoey sound system playing the best of Cliff Richard or a tombola where the prizes never seem to be won?! It is also a little known fact that the best cakes in the entire world are produced annually for the fair when Granny has a reputation to uphold with the other ladies…
Why not escape to the country this weekend and experience (in between the boat pagent and the high jump) the rare pleasure of a really good country fayre? Harty Country Fayre promises something to delight all of its visitors and in conjuction with St Thomas’ Flower Show serves to brighten up our little corner of Kent this weekend.
With plenty to eat see and do, including fudge making and craft stalls, clay pigeon shooting and photography, wedding favours and the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen, why not pop down and pick up something nice before meandering along the coastline or enjoying a picnic on the beach? There is plenty of wildlife to be seen and bridle paths to enjoy!
The fair runs both days of the weekend and is free to attend (although a contribution to the church fund would be much appreciated!). http://hartycountryfayre.weebly.com/index.html
Fancy stay over in Harty Ferry for the weekend? We have some lovely cottages that are located in the delightful countryside that surrounds the pretty village of Harty Ferry. Below is ‘The Saltings’ which can sleep up to 12 people.
