We had such a great trip to this part of the world, decided on a whim, one of those throwaway comments – ‘I’ve always wanted to go cycling on the Isle of Wight’. These few words once uttered had to be acted on! Sitting round a big table after a delicious Sunday lunch in January with friends, we made plans to visit the Isle of Wight in May, hopeful for good weather. We would find a holiday cottage and take our bikes and work it out from there!
Finally our weekend arrived! We’d looked at cottages on the Isle of Wight through all sorts of websites, but finally settled on one which we’d seen on Mulberry Cottages website, it looked so pretty with a gorgeous garden and so peaceful! We had a fun ferry crossing with Wightlink, and so fast, delicious coffee and friendly staff.
Yarmouth is a great gateway to the rest of the island, it’s got some fab restaurants and a few gorgeous boutiques, not to mention the scrummy deli!
We gorged ourselves on fresh fish and tasty wine at Saltys, it’s got a great atmosphere, downstairs is the bar and a more casual atmosphere (apparently live music on Saturday nights in the summer) and we headed upstairs to the more restauranty bit.
We were very well looked after by friendly staff and had a great evening, everyone very happy – a great start to our cycling weekend on the Isle of Wight!
