Mulberry Cottages attended the Heathfield show yesterday, although the weather was on the damp and dreary side we certainly were not!
This was the 64th Heathfield and District agricultural show but the first time Mulberry Cottages had attended, so we didn’t know what to expect but we were greeted with a bustling festival type atmosphere even though the wind was howling!
We had a marquee that was situated by the main show ring which was great as we could watch all the different competitions that were happening including judging ridden hunter horses, side saddle competitions, a Shire horse competition, there was also a cattle parade, terrier and ferret racing (which was a first for me) and a hound parade. There was also a dare devil stunt show which was very impressive, motorbikes flying in the air doing acrobats, it was quite a contrast to the horse and cattle shows we had been watching!
If you fancied a bit of retail therapy there was a huge craft fair and a shopping arcade full of clothes stalls where you could pick up some lovely WARM clothes and if you were hungry there was a farmers market where you could buy lots of fresh local produce! To keep the children entertained there was a fairground, a farmyard area where children could feed and pet animals and a quad bike ring where you could ride a quad bike around a track –this proved to be a very popular area with the children!
It definitely was a great day out for all the family and for Mulberry Cottages it was a great event to attend as we had lots of people interested in our lovely cottages and picked up our beautiful brochure! We are sure to attend next year – let’s hope for sun though next time!
