We were asked to attend the launch of the next phase of Whitesands in Camber Sands on Saturday. The sun shone and it was a perfect day to enjoy the delights of the wonderful Sussex sandy beaches. Whitesands is a charming new development close to Rye and within a few minutes’ walk of the beach, built in a traditional fishermen’s style which gives the houses a timeless appeal.
Investors have been quick to see the advantages of buying a holiday cottage and we are already holiday letting several cottages within the development so were in a perfect position to advise potential purchasers of the benefits of holiday cottage investment and of course the pitfalls!
The questions covered two main categories; the investment returns and the practicalities of holiday lettings. The houses in the development average 28 weeks of lettings per year and the investors were pleasantly surprised by the number of winter bookings that can be achieved. As is often the case, the holiday cottages performing the best were the ones furnished to the highest standards. For those who are very busy you can buy a furniture package from a local supplier with all the essential pieces you would need for a holiday cottage. Furnishing is very important as holiday bookings build year on year and the most popular cottages that guests return to again and again are of course the nicest ones! On the practicalities of the weekly change over’s there are two excellent local Sussex companies offering cleaning, laundry and minor repairs so that too couldn’t be easier.
Camber is a wonderful holiday location in East Sussex, within an hour and half of London and 2 hours from Continental Europe, with miles of sandy beaches and a real air of being away from it all. A perfect combination for any holiday investment as guests can get to it so easily.
