Stepping into Calverley Gardens in the heart of historic and picturesque Royal Tunbridge Wells, you could be entering Narnia (post Snow Queen!), the set of the new Happy Feet film or even into Santa’s own back garden… The beautiful gardens have been lit up in a bid to entice holiday makers into an authentic winter experience, complete with real ice!
The ice rink forms the centre piece of the celebrations, designed to promote the town in the run up to Christmas itself (four weeks and counting- time to start panicking!). There are lessons for all levels of skater, from toddlers all the way up to those nervy mums and embarrasing dads. Also there are sponsored evenings, prizes for the best skater and the best ‘bambi’ on ice, as well as dress up events and themes to keep all members of the family entertained.
Skaters have access to the rink from 9.30am until 8.30pm (last session) with adults skating for £9 and children for £7 (complete with skate hire). Tunbridge Wells also has a fantastic selection of restaurants and cafes, such as Thackerays, a Michelin starred restaurant located just off the main London Road or The Black Dog cafe on the Camden Road which offers families a consistent level of smiley service. Why not make a day of it and explore all that this beautiful town has to offer?
