We all know that the beaches of the South Coast are some of the best in the UK. With their miles of clean, soft sand, and views to die for, not to mention the fabulous seaside ice creams, the beaches of the South have always held a place in many a child and adults memory.
But technically, how good are they? Now, you don’t have to take our word for it – it’s been scientifically proved! The environment agency have a section on their website that monitors and assesses the bathing waters in and around England and Wales, and even lets you know the cleanliness and safety levels of your favourite beach. For example, Winchelsea Beach, Folkestone and Dover have all been ranked as “high”, meaning that the samples taken have met the new stricter UK guidelines (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/recreation/119111.aspx)
So head on down to a South East beach this summer, and paddle your toes in the sea, safe in the knowledge that the southern seas provide only the best for you and your family!
