We’re celebrating National Parks Week 2015, we want to shout about our amazing National Parks from the Cairngorms to the South Downs – fantastic spaces attracting thousands of tourists and locals every year.
These areas of the UK are a haven for wildlife, fauna and flora, with miles of fabulous footpaths and glorious views, a treat for anyone who appreciates the great outdoors. Our favourite is The South Downs National Park (as we are so close), what’s yours?
From Lewes you can head out of the town in the direction of the green hills and find yourself heading for Firle and Glyndebourne. High up on the ridge of the South Downs National Park, you can see for miles. There are sheep and lambs wandering freely so if you plan to take your dog, make sure he’s attached to you!
Every year there is a specific theme and this year their theme is Landscapes of Plenty, bringing attention to the fact that National Parks are productive regions, growing and producing some of the best food and drink in the country.
Vineyards are becoming an increasingly common sight in the South Downs region as the chalky hills are the very similar to the Champagne area of France , they welcome visitors either to join an organised tour or to explore the area on their own. If you love shopping at local food markets, Lewes Food Market runs every Friday morning with a real buzz. Local food producers have been selling here for 5 years very successfully.
