Gardener’s Arms cottage – as Pretty as a picture, Why I love Somerset! By guest blogger Emma
Living in Kent I always think of Somerset as the other side of the world. This could not be further from the truth. If timed right you can get to Somerset from Kent in 3 hours and once you pass the dreaded M25 and M3 you are onto A roads where you really do see the true beauty of what England has to offer.
Windy our way through the roads we drove past the stunningly HUGE Chew Valley lake, what a place. You can do everything from sail, fish and eat at the Chew Valley Lake. Gardener’s Arms Cottage was covered in purple wisteria……it was totally breathtaking as you drive towards it. I couldn’t wait to get into cottage and call it mine for the week!
The Kitchen was truly perfect with a lovely mix of modern kitchen equipment but with a rustic country feel.
I had 12 of my nearest and dearest with me and this dining room saw many a story told and the room was filled laughter and the clinking of glasses.
The weather was perfect while we were away and this conservatory was the ideal place to escape the suns rays and relax with a good book and pot of tea.
With this cottage being nearly 200 years old the lounge was full of period features such as the beamed ceilings.
As I booked the cottage I was lucky enough to get the most luxurious of the rooms. The bed was so comfortable I couldn’t get out of it and the views out of the windows were bliss.
The garden was the ultimate BBQ space! There was so much space and it was so peaceful, we truly chilled here.
We did manage to leave the luxuries of the cottage a few times. We were wowed by the Cheddar Gorge and walked off a belly full of BBQ up the Glastonbury Tor.
The weekend was a scorcher so we were so glad we packed our trunks and bikinis! We headed to Weston Super Mare. Lovely sandy beaches and ice creams to die for!
Thats why I love Somerset!!
