Quirky Honeypot – made with love and care

When Sarah Ellis mentioned her idea of turning the disused caravan at the bottom of their garden into a holiday let, her husband thought it was an off the wall idea!  He soon changed his mind when he saw the amazing transformation of the 15 year old hut into the cutest of love nests.

The caravan had stood empty for many years – originally accommodating fruit pickers in the late summer season on the Kentish fruit farm, it had become a den for the children to play in.

Sarah knew her market and was aiming at the 35 and under age group. With a budget of £8,000, she and her builder stripped out the interior and started to have some fun!  She created a romantic bolthole – whilst the builder worked on the roof, added a pretty veranda and updated the plumbing and electrics, Kate got to work with her sewing machine and created the most gorgeous country floral and check interior.

They added other quirky additions to make Honeypot unique.  When Sarah saw the giant reel that came with the new electrical wire, she decided it was the perfect coffee table!  From here she got into up-cycling and used a colander for a light shade and converted a washing machine drum into a fire-pit where love birds can cuddle up around the open fire, enjoying the quiet night sky – simply heaven!

The pretty and compact interior provides all the essentials for the perfect break away, including a log burning stove, quaint kitchenette, a small TV and even WiFi for those who really must keep in touch with world.

Since launching Honeypot in the summer of 2014, the Ellis’s have been bowled over by the popularity of their venture.  Not only have they had back to back bookings throughout the summer, the Honeypot has seen some truly romantic goings on.  With 4 proposals (and acceptances we hasten to add) under its belt, it is the most idyllic of holiday destinations.  If you are looking for a romantic hideaway among the apple orchards of Kent, you could come back with a ring on your finger!

We have some other wonderfully unique accommodation across the UK, one such place being a converted railway carried with views over the beautiful Bodiam Castle in Sussex.  The Prince Regent sleeps 2 and has a separate kitchen and shower room.

Enchanting, a fabulous situation overlooking Bodiam Castle

If you love the idea of being cut off from the world but able to walk to the pub, we have a rustic cottage, originally an old Well House, which has been thoughtfully transformed into a romantic bolt hole for two.

The Chilterns Granary, set in fabulous countryside has a surprise up its sleeve – an arctic cabin, complete with an internal fire pit barbeque, ideal for a cosy evening – you can even pop the beds up and spend the night next to the firelight!
