It’s not often that your home is featured on the front cover of a magazine, and particularly when it is a gorgeous glossy magazine such as Period Homes & Interiors! But in this month’s issue you’ll find the elegant Regency home of The Rothmans and their four daughters.
Lucy Rothman grew up on the South Downs and this fabulous house reminded her of her childhood, situated in beautiful grounds in West Sussex allowing her children a magical upbringing with freedom to explore the countryside on horseback and run free in the grounds of The Old Rectory.
Now she jokes ‘I’m the modern day Mrs Bennet – albeit with just four daughters and less obsessed with marrying them off!’. Lucy has decorated the house impeccably – she was keen to use authentic colours in the house wherever possible and researched wallpaper and paint in great detail.
The Old Rectory is often full of friends and family with delicious Sunday lunches in the dining room followed by a walk on the estate and a cosy time with the papers infront of a roaring fire in the late afternoon. At Christmas the family make an excursion to the nearby Christmas tree plantation to choose and cut down their tree – great fun!
If you love interiors, you will enjoy walking round The Old Rectory in a virtual fashion! Every room has been carefully thought out with gorgeous fabrics and furniture.
We are lucky enough to have The Old Rectory as part of our portfolio and when the family away, our guests can enjoy spending time in this magnificent house – and you never know, they may come across a drenched Mr Darcy striding up to the house!
