We have been very excited to read in one of all-time favourite glossy magazines, The Tatler, an article – ‘The Best Cottages to rent on Country Estates’ which features a group of our historic cottages in the grounds of Sudeley Castle.
Steeped in history, and home to King Henry VIII and the last and surviving wife, Katherine Parr in the 1500s, this really is a magical place to visit.
Set in stunning gardens, which have been added to over the centuries, the choice of cottages, sleeping 3 – 6 guests and named after royalty who have crossed the threshold, is yours.
If you’re looking for group accommodation, Sudeley Castle Cottage Complex sleeps up to 40 – a historian group’s dream holiday! And now for a bit about the area… situated in the unspoilt Cotswold village of Winchcombe, Sudeley Castle is a hidden jewel in the Cotswolds crown, yet only 15 minutes from the Regency Spa town of Cheltenham. Winchcombe is full of character with distinctive Cotswolds architecture and stone work as well as tearooms, pubs and restaurants. Wesley House comes highly recommended with a modern Bar and Grill perfect for special celebrations. Or try the Gardeners Arms Inn a 16th Century thatched pub serving locally grown produce. Winchcombe has quite the reputation as a walker’s paradise as it sits on the intersection of the Cotswolds Way, Gloucestershire Way, Wardens Way and Windrush Way – why not dust off those walking shoes and explore the Cotswolds countryside?
If you’re planning a weekend away with your four legged friend, some of the Sudeley Castle cottages are pet friendly and with the gardens and surrounding countryside to explore, it will a great break away from home!
Only a short drive is Broadway one of the Cotswolds most famous spots beloved by creative souls such as Claude Monet, Oscar Wilde and Edward Elgar alike. The village has a mix of Tudor, Stuart and Georgian buildings as well as several art galleries, numerous restaurants and great retail therapy. It’s well worth a visit.
Cheltenham is a mere 15 minute drive and offers so much to see and do. As the cultural heart of the Cotswolds it holds annual Jazz, Food & Drink and Literary Festivals but the year’s biggest attraction is the internationally famous horse racing. Held at the impressive Cheltenham racecourse, the most renowned of all is the National Hunt event held in March, also known as Gold Cup Week. It is a must if you are visiting the area even if you go to one of the other smaller events held throughout the year.
The South West is on your doorstep with Sudeley Castle Cottages; make sure you don’t miss a thing!
