Everyone here in the Mulberry Office is really excited by the opening of the sparkling new Jerwood space in Hastings today from 10am. If you are at a bit of a loose end this weekend and fancy visiting the little sister of the award winning Jerwood space in London, situated in one of the prettiest seaside towns in Sussex, then hop on the train (only an hour and a half from London!) and be having an ice cream by the sea by lunchtime!
Keeping it local, the first exhibition to be shown at this new Gallery is a retrospective of Kent based artist, Rose Wylie, a sensory explosion of colour and emotion befitting the Jerwoods windswept exterior and panoramic views.
Why not take a jaunt by the seaside this weekend, indulge in a culturally relevant exhibition, heralding the beginning of Hastings move towards a nationally and internationally recognised centre of art and moving defiantly out of the shadow of Brighton and the other seaside chic towns and cities.
Pick up some fresh fish from the hauls just outside the Jerwood (any fresher and it would be swimming!) and enjoy a town electrified by the arrival of a new and interesting feature.
Why not make a weekend of it and stay with Mulberry Cottages at the Granary, only 5 miles from Hastings and set in the most beautiful scenery, sleeping 5 + 1 and costs £600 for four nights.
