If you’re planning your summer’s week holiday then seriously consider the week from the 13th of July. The Olympic torch will be making its journey within a variety of communities across Kent. The flame symbolises the Olympic spirit and we are sure its journey around the UK will bring great excitement of the games.
With this in mind, we have an array of properties available to holiday at in Kent. All of which are close by to the Olympic torch route. We believe this will truly be an amazing experience for both you and your family to see on your holiday.
We have put together our current availability, whilst focusing on the Olympic torch route, to advise you on which properties will be suitable for holidaying at, that do fall within the journey.
On Wednesday July the 18th the torch will be making its journey from the village of Hamstreet through to Ashford; a popular modern town with plenty to do for any age group. In Rodmersham, only a 30 minute drive from the town centre of Ashford, we have a delightful holiday cottage by the name of Old Post Cottage suitable for a small family of 4.
This cosy cottage provides comfort for the perfect place to relax and enjoy the ambience of the countryside.
The torch is expected to arrive in the town centre of Folkestone around 2pm on this day. Folkestone is a popular seaside town, with unique shops, seafood stalls along the harbour and even a dry ski slope close by!
If you are interested in accommodation within Folkestone, we have a large property sleeping up to 12 people by the name of; The Wing at Hockley Sole. This beautiful Manor house is very spacious and has an excellent size kitchen to cook up a feast in!
On the Thursday 19th July the journey of the torch will continue through to Ramsgate at around 10:15am. This seaside town is such a popular location and is sure to be bustling with excitement for the Olympics.
One of our properties available during this time is 1 Royal Crescent; a beautiful and spacious holiday home with stunning views and gorgeous furnishings.
The journey of the torch will end for the day at the attractive Leeds Castle for an evening celebration. The celebration held will consist of a cauldron lighting ceremony, followed by a small performance by Hip Hop duo; Rizzle Kicks.
Within the picturesque grounds of the castle we are pleased to have available an outstanding holiday cottage; Broomfield Cottage. This property sleeps up to 6 people, is situated in a idyllic peaceful spot and you will receive a free family annual pass to the castle, so do not worry if you can’t get round the whole castle on your first trip!
