As we approached The Clock House, we really didn’t know what to expect, but there infront of us in all it’s glory was this quite magnificent majestic building, which was built in the 1750s and stands in the Grange Estate in the beautiful upper Itchen and Candover Valleys east of Winchester.
We learned that this 3000 acre sporting estate in Central Hampshire, is home to Grange Park, a 600 acre landscaped park which contains The Grange at Northington, an important Grade I listed neo-classical country house in the guardianship of English Heritage.
The Clock House is part of the historic core of the Estate and has been refurbished beautifully, with great care and attention and is now a superb two bedroomed apartment with amazing views over the Estate. For opera lovers everywhere this will be an amazing opportunity to stay inside Grange Park for the Grange Park Opera, the season running for a month or so in June and July, with some exquisite performances where opera buffs come from all over the world to enjoy this very special season.
The house is no longer occupied but is home, until the end of the 2016 Season, to Grange Park Opera, which hosts a summer opera festival there in a 550 seat theatre created within the Old Orangery.
In 2017, The Grange Festival will be continuing the great legacy of fabulous opera performances at Grange Park directed by the internationally acclaimed counter-tenor, Michael Chance.
The Clock House is now available for short breaks and week long stays throughout the year.
It’s comfortable interior has been designed with great style from the delightful well equipped kitchen dining room to the sumptuous bedrooms, beds dressed to the nines with the lovely linen and beautiful cushions.
The walls are painted in pale colours which compliment the antique furniture and beautiful upholstered pieces to create the most relaxing of interiors.
