Wander into history with a break in Winchester!

Is there anywhere with such a rich history as Winchester? We would argue not! With Winchester there is so much to see and do all within the setting of beautiful medieval architecture and in the shadow of the imposing Winchester Cathedral. Founded by the Romans it served as the capital of England for a time. As you walk through the streets of Winchester and along the river path you can trace the old city walls and even stop off for a drink along the way – several of the city’s best pubs line the riverside including the Bishop on the Bridge the perfect place for a Sunday roast dinner. We have some lovely Winchester holiday cottages ranging from smart city apartments to Cathedral view family abodes.

A family day out is inevitable in Winchester, you can start with an Antipodean themed breakfast at Black White Red, their poached eggs and avocado are a must! Afterwards the Winchester City Mill is the perfect place to while away an afternoon, dating back to 1086 the Mill has been lovingly restored and the young ones can take part in a baking session and take home the goods! We have multiple child-friendly Winchester holiday cottages including the lovely Cathedral View – with unbroken views of the Cathedral spires and a cosy sitting room complete with log burner it’s a great place to see out a day.

Kingsgate Village is the medieval section of the city complete with its own character, red brick archways lead to boutique shops and quaint English pubs. We have two beautiful Winchester holiday cottages in the walls of Kingsgate Village; each would be the perfect base from which to explore the city. The Potting Shed is a delightful, quirky cottage, a perfect bolthole for two and Bakers View is a beautifully designed apartment with comfortable living space and unique design features. Each cottages is within stumbling distance to the renowned Wykeham Arms, serving delicious home-cooked food you can’t go much wrong with popping in to sample the cuisine.
