What is it that makes a luxury self-catering cottage? Flicking through magazines, we often see images that are totally irresistible; we imagine we are living a home in gorgeous hues of greys and blues, wonderful stone floors, elegant furniture and kitchens to die for! The owners have thought of everything, from hot tubs to 400 thread count linen, from coffee machines to indoor swimming pools!
We have put together 5 areas that we feel are of utmost importance
- Beds and linen
We all need a good night’s sleep and holidays are for relaxing of course, so where do you start but with the bedroom area. Crisp white sheets and pillowcases, make all the difference, and a good quality fluffy towel are well received by the discerning holiday guest. In fact, they may not notice how good the towel is, but they will certainly make note of a thin, coarse item that should be in the rag department!
- Living space
Living spaces are for relaxing too, lovely soft sofas to sink into, perfect places to spend time with friends and family catching up. In bigger houses, the luxury of having a large playroom with an assortment of entertainment such as table football or ping pong is an added bonus.
Many of us love to cook, and the kitchens in our luxury self-catering cottages are well equipped, creating the perfect place to experiment with recipes, where everyone can pitch in and help make a delicious lunch or supper. Love the idea of a coffee machine, a bread maker or a state of the art juicer, some of our luxury holiday cottages are right on trend with the latest kitchen equipment.
Another area which is of great importance for a luxury self-catering cottage is the bathroom. Soaking in a delicious bubble bath before dinner, wine glass balanced by the soap dish, creates the height of luxury – our guests love bathrooms! Showers too are an area greatly appreciated, for that speedy shower in the morning before going off on an adventure to explore the local area.
- Gardens and terraces
Summer evenings will be spent sitting on the terrace with a chilled glass of wine or a nice cold elderflower cordial, catching up with family news, making plans for the days ahead and laughing with friends. To have a beautiful terrace and garden, really does give a luxury holiday cottages extra appeal. Children can run free, make camps, play hide and seek and exhaust themselves before bed.
