About Otter House

This elegant, Regency-style house sits in the beautiful grounds of approximately 2.5 acres - the perfect holiday home in Devon. Looking out from a wonderful conservatory, there is plenty of space for everyone to rest and play. With 2 lounges, each with their own TV - so no fighting over the remote control! Bar Billiards and a piano provide fun entertainment for all.

The traditional farmhouse kitchen/diner is fully equipped and provides plenty of space for your whole party to eat together. A downstairs bedroom with a small, separate kitchen area means everyone can come along and enjoy this house.

If you can tear yourself away from this lovely holiday home, South Devon has an abundance of beautiful places to visit beyond the confines of this beautiful house. Nearby is the geographic marvel, Slapton Ley Nature Reserve, a lagoon-like lake, where you can spot otters and rare migrant birds. The South West Coast Path is effectively on the doorstep for quiet coastal walks or more adventurous hikes.

The house has its own private gardens, with duck ponds and orchards create a warm backdrop for those wonderful evenings, whilst enjoying a BBQ. There are also wood burners & log fires as well as underfloor heating (downstairs) to enhance the intimate atmosphere. Rain or shine, Otter House has it all and hopefully you'll never want to leave!

"The fact you are reading this review I guess you are considering staying at Otter House. The best advice I can give is to stop considering and do it - without any hesitation. Superbly located in rolling farm land within easy reach of all Devon's wonderful attractions, The House is architecturally breathtaking, furnished with style, flair and innovation. Tucked away in the lanes, quiet and peaceful, Otter House is an imposing and appealing feature of the landscape. Inside the design and attention to detail is great. Traditional kitchen equipped with everything - and more - you might need. Beautiful slate floor leading to extensive conservatory and spacious lounges. Seven bedrooms, delightfully decorated and furnished, comfortable beds with crisp linens and modern en-suiite bathrooms. Furnished patio area, barbecue, games room. All areas impeccably clean and maintained. You may have guessed that our three generations loved our time at Otter and are delighted to recommend it."

Gillian Pickles - October 2017

"Lovely big house and great space for a large group. It was very comfortable and clean but obviously well lived in so we could relax and feel at home. Richard met us on arrival and showed us around and made us feel very welcome. There is some lovely country side and coast nearby and we enjoyed canoeing on some of the local rivers. A car and steady nerves required for narrow windy lanes. Would thoroughly recommend this place for large groups or family events."

Diana Gibbs - September 2017

"I'd recommend this property unreservedly. The house is spacious, beautifully furnished with a great open living/dining area. There is also a lovely outside dining area with BBQ which we used on the warmer evenings. It was in very good condition, clean and well maintained with all we needed in terms of utilities, entertainment etc. Outside the kids loved playing in the garden. Richard couldn't have been more helpful, providing additional information on things to do and dealing with the minor problems that did arise. Had a great week."

Miranda Pallin - August 2017

"We spent the last week of the school summer holidays here and were very lucky with the weather. The children loved the swings and ducks and the garden was great to relax in, a real suntrap to enjoy a sundowner. Our dog Bim was able to wander in and out freely as the front garden is completely dog proof! The house was great, everything we needed was provided, even the crabbing buckets! All in all a great break and in a lovely spot, very relaxing and peaceful but not far away from all the beaches."

Middleton - August 2017

"Everything about Otter House was outstanding. Plenty of space for everything and everyone... there was 13 of us! Children, aged 6 up to 16, had so much to do! They loved the gardens, tried to play bar billiards and most importantly were safe wherever they explored within the grounds. The bedrooms were a fantastic size, beautifully decorated with plenty of storage. The bathrooms, including the en- suites, were used excessively every day by everyone and there was never a shortage of hot water! The kitchen & conservatory are our favourite rooms in the whole house. Absolutely stunning with so much space and every utensil you could possibly wish for! I wanted to take it home with me! I would highly recommend this property to large families or groups of friends who simply want to relax, enjoy the Devon countryside and explore the beautiful hidden beaches along the tiny coastal roads. There is something for everyone, young or old, and it will make you smile from the moment you arrive.... It was extremely sad to leave. It was a lovely, sunny, summer holiday enjoyed by the whole family."

Roy Quastel - August 2016

"Otter House is a fantastic holiday home. Very relaxed home from home feeling on arrival. This spacious house with its large garden was enjoyed by everyone, especially the 4 active children. Cleanliness excellent throughout! Great fully equipped family kitchen. There are several beaches within 30 minutes drive. We would definitely recommend Woodlands Theme Park. Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Totnes are all within easy distance."

Wendy Stibbards - August 2016

"This was one of the best equipped houses we have ever visited and we wanted for nothing it catered for everyone’s needs there was nothing, couldn’t fault it. Plenty of information on surrounding areas etc, I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone. Will certainly return."

Ann Rice - July 2016

"Superb accommodation, More than enough room even full to capacity with our party of 12 plus dogs. Very well equipped kitchen and cooking facilities. 12 seater dining table plenty big enough for us to sit round for meals. Plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth the nearest major places, 20 minute drive away. Definitely recommend the place. A bit isolated as regards shop and pub, 30-40 minute walk into Slapton, but that would suit many people as it did us. Highly recommend."
