Peace and tranquillity is all yours - the views from Somer House over the lake are out of this world. It makes the ideal getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle with the Cotswolds on your doorstep.
Lots of water sports
Swimming pool, shops, activities and restaurant onsite
If you've never stayed by a lake, then this is your chance; it really is a unique experience. Somer Lake House is one of a group of Cotswold stone cottages built recently on an award winning lakeside estate. Noted as having one of the best views, Somer Lake House has a large deck with a large table and chairs and a barbeque; where you can enjoy the late summer evenings, alfresco dining and watch the sun go down.
The cottage has been well planned, with a cosy sitting area with a wood-burning stove for those chillier autumn evenings. A few logs glowing, a glass of wine perhaps and you've got the perfect start to an evening on a get away from reality. There's plenty of living space, with a large kitchen dining area for coming together for meals and chats. It's the ideal accommodation for families or friends; a real holiday treat.
For fun and relaxation, there's the large shared outdoor swimming pool a couple of minutes' walk away with a café and children's play area and canoes and bicycles can be hired on site. For those who are happy to sit and read, the private decking offers a place where you can unwind and see wildlife and listen to the lapping water; total chill out time. There's a grass garden area around the house next to the decking, good for picnics as well as an abundance of outside space around the estate. Well behaved dogs would be welcome too, so a perfect place for all.
Service rating : I only gave 3 stars because I booked this cottage a very long time ago and had to change the booking from the half term week - high season - to the week before - low season - but you insisted on same price not low season price - despite having many months notice of the change. Product : Really lovely house. Very cosy.
We really enjoyed our stay. Great house with good facilities. My main concern was lack of info as to where to deposit the rubbish . Found the area after asking around. We then had to separate it off . Consequently I gave 4* rather than 5*. Another visit is certainly considered when my family from Australia visit us again. Regards Sheila Armstrong

"I have stayed at this cottage on a few occasions, either as a couple or with a large family - three adults and four boys. Every time has been seamless, both in terms of our arrival and during our stay. The cottage is right on the water's edge and has its own jetty and canoes, so a paddle out for the boys under the scrutiny of the adults (while sipping chilled wine on the deck) was a winner all round. The facilities within the park include tennis, swimming and cycling and a gorgeous walk to a local eatery was also very popular. The house is well equipped and has all the basics, so self catering is simple. I am planning to complete my book while staying here in a couple of months time, and I'm looking forward to it immensely."

"We've stayed at Somer Lake House a number of times and hope to continue to return as it feels like our home-from-home. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The mattress and enormous bed in the master bedroom feel wonderfully decadent with super quality bedding and accessories. Our children enjoy the bunk bed rooms and our friends have found the double guest room with en-suite very comfortable. The house is well equipped and we have even enjoyed using the boat with the owners permission, which was great fun."
