About River Test Annexe

River Test Annexe offers access to private grounds with direct river bank frontage on the famous River Test, which is renowned for its magnificent trout and crystal clear shallow waters. The chalky bottom riverbed is the perfect conditions for watercress and an abundance of wildlife; which there is no shortage of here! The River Test offers some of the best fly fishing opportunities in the world, whilst fabulous Stockbridge town is just one mile away with a fantastic array of independent shops, eateries along with some welcoming local pubs.

The apartment is in the village of Longstock, just one mile from Stockbridge itself, a quintessentially English village with magnificent thatched cottages, church and the re-knowned Peat Spade Pub within walking distance. After a long day walking, exploring or fishing, head to the Peat Spade for a freshly poured pint of Upham real ale - a local speciality.

Adjoined to the owner's main house and sharing the garden, this apartment is ideal for couples looking for that weekend countryside getaway or for the adventurous walkers and those wanting to tour the south of England. A ground floor kitchen and dining area leads to the first floor sumptuous living room, with expansive windows overlooking the valley and riverside garden. An exquisite en-suite double bedroom to enjoy those early morning views too, a real treat away from reality.

You're free to wander in the garden and along the riverbank enjoying the scenery, wildlife and little ducklings; whilst a separate outdoor terrace area for guests is perfect for alfresco dining. A real sense of tranquillity surrounds this gorgeous apartment!

"We can only echo what other visitors have said. So comfortable and welcoming. The flowers, the cake... (THE CAKE!!), etc. We only managed to visit a quarter of the places we intended to visit. We will most definitely be back."

Frank and Rosemary Crowcroft - Chipping, Lancashire - Aug/Sept 2018

"A super place to stay - excellent in every way. Lovely peaceful location and a most comfortable, well equipped and tastefully furnished apartment/cottage. Good lighting (for reading in the evening) a bonus. Flowers and other welcoming touches (cake and tea and juice) much appreciated. Have enjoyed a good variety of walks, both locally and further afield but lots still to do/explore another time... Thank you Lucy for your hospitality. Look forward to visiting again in the future."

Fiona Barthop, Burgess Hill - August 2018

"This has been our second holiday at Catch of the Day and just like June 2016 there has been a heatwave. Despite the heat we have enjoyed visiting the following outdoor places: Bentley Wood, where we saw Purple Emporer, White Admiral and Silver-Washed Fritilary. Mottisfont (National Trust). Stockbridge Down (a National Trust hill). Houghton Lodge Gardens. Catch of the Day has been a peaceful, comfortable base for our holiday. On the summer evenings it has been lovely to sit on the seat beside the river in the garden."

Geoff and Sue Bathe, Cheddar, Somerset - June 2018

"We have enjoyed staying here more than we could say. A lovely place in the most beautiful setting. Very well furnished and spotless. The welcome treats were much enjoyed. Walking on the Test Way in the glorious weather was a real treat! Also visited Danebury Ring, Winchester, Hinton Ampner and Wherwell. Ate out at the Mitre at Chilbottom and The White Lion in Wherewell - very good. Purbani in Stockbridge, excellent food. Many thanks to Lucy for her kindness and helpfulness."

Claire and Chris Pilkington - May 2018

"It has been a pleasure to stay in this comfortable well-equipped property in its peaceful rural location. We have enjoyed doing what we came here to do - walking in the varied local countryside while looking for butterflies, wild flowers and other wildlife. We particularly liked Stockbridge Down with its variety of habitats, and also liked Danebury Hill. We also enjoyed a visit to Houghton Lodge Gardens."

June 2016 - Geoff & Sue

"We've had a really enjoyable three week stay at Catch Of The Day. We've made to feel really welcome. Such a wonderful cosy and comfortable country retreat - and the most amazing views! It has really been the perfect location for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Loved watching the antics of the ducks! Lots of wildlife to watch while eating your meals - even spotted a deer. Lots of walks and days out. Some spectacular views from Figsbury Rings!"
