About The House By The Arbour
Elegance and period detail abound in this handsome Georgian terrace located a few minutes walk from Winchester High Street. A top to bottom interior renovation has left a historic feel but with all the fittings and fixtures of the 21st century. A charming and apt way to be based in one of the country's oldest cities.
The house sleeps six with the option of eight, across its four half-floors. The Master Bedroom has a King Size bed, the other two bedrooms have double beds. The study/TV room can sleep an extra two with the desk converting to a fourth small double bed. Each bedroom is accompanied by its own bathroom, and there is an extra WC on the ground floor. The master bedroom's bathroom has a freestanding claw foot bath adjacent to a window that has views across the Arbour.
Steps lead up from the entrance hall to the drawing room, which is large and comfortable with two sofas and two armchairs. Large windows fill the room with natural light and provide an outlook on to Clifton Terrace below. The drawing room and dining room are connected for easy socialising.
The bespoke Neptune kitchen has flagstone flooring, granite work surfaces, an electric Aga stove, a breakfast bar, and every other modern convenience built-in, including a wine fridge. An opening from the kitchen leads to the dining area, with a grand hardwood table seating six. Lots of light pours into the kitchen from the french doors, which open out onto a private walled courtyard garden.
The courtyard garden is a sun-trap and is prettily foliaged. There is cast-iron outdoor seating: a table and chairs for four, and a two-seater bench under a vine-clad trellis. A barbecue and flint paving completes the scene.
The House By The Arbour lies between Romsey road and St Pauls Hill/Stockbridge Road on the Western side of the High Street and on the edge of the beautiful green open space of Oram's Arbour. Consequently, the City's amenities are all within easy walking distance including the mainline station to London Waterloo, the County Courts, an incredible range of restaurants, coffee shops and bars, High Street shopping, cinema, theatre and fitness suites and centres. A number of historical sites are close-by too, including Winchester Cathedral, Jane Austen's last accommodation, the Great Hall, and many others.
The house is available for a minimum period of three weeks rental only.
