About Weddings at Goodnestone Park
As featured in both The Telegraph
and Yahoo! Finance
Goodnestone Park is the family home of the 22nd Lord FitzWalter. Built in 1704, it's a Palladian gem surrounded by elegant parkland and some of the most admired and visited gardens in South East England - a perfect setting for your wedding.
The house has been beautifully renovated to offer a stunning setting with 12 lovely hotel standard bedrooms, 5 elegant but homely reception rooms and a brand new kitchen giving a traditional feel but with modern day comforts. Although completely refurbished, the house retains its historic charm with a contemporary twist set within the traditional interiors. Family treasures, antique furniture, paintings and some more modern furnishings give rise to a perfect fusion of discreet grandeur and genteel informality what more could you ask for to make your day extra special.
The Park would be an ideal wedding location , small enough to host the most intimate and bespoke wedding and large enough to host a lavish occasion for up to 150 wedding guests. There are nearly 15 acres of gardens, including a glorious 17th century walled garden, which you can use by arrangement and a beautiful formal area with lawns adjacent to the house where you can hire a marquee for your reception. Goodnestone has great literary links; Jane Austen's brother married into the family and she was a popular and frequent visitor. Little wonder the tranquillity and beauty of the house and garden were the inspiration for her masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice.
