About Escombe House

This is where your holiday starts, in this fantastically inviting family home tucked away in the corner of a popular rural village in Kent! It is spacious, inviting, and appealing to the eyes and senses. Tastefully designed and loved by its owners, it really feels like a home from home but better, filled with eclectic and interesting objects d'art, bold coloured furniture and furnishings combined with soothing wall colours and wooden floors.

Enjoy the enormous fully equipped kitchen and striking orangery which is perfect for dining and cooking together. So lovely and light, bringing the outside in on any day. Relax in the main lounge with log burner while someone plays the piano in the background, enjoy a singalong. The children can play the Xbox or watch a video in the equally spacious and inviting snug room. There is so much space for everyone in this magnificent house. Perfect for any family celebration and get together.

You will have the choice of 5 sumptuous bedrooms with several en-suite bathrooms on the 1st floor. The top floor is ideal for children with a cabin and twin room with its own contemporary bathroom.
Spend summer days and evenings in the garden or on the terrace, while in winter chilling by the log burner provides you with that really cosy feeling, perfect with a glass of wine and book in hand.
Explore the countryside, visit lovely Goodnestone Park & Gardens or the cathedral city of Canterbury, where you can shop till you drop, both only a 10 minutes drive away,

Ickham is a lovely country village not far from Canterbury. It's gastro pub the Duke William is renowned for delicious food and great atmosphere. Wingham Wildlife Park is only a short drive away. The area is peppered with country walks, pubs and farm shops.

Open plan kitchen /dining area with kitchen island, AGA, gas hob and electric steam combi oven, dishwasher, double fridge freezer, double butler sink. Orangery seating 10, extra seating for 4. Double doors opening onto terrace.  

Secondary living room (snug/games room), seating 6, flat screen TV & Xbox.   

Study with desk, chair, 2 rocking chairs, log burner.  

First Floor

Main bedroom (sleeps 2), four poster Kevin McCloud bed, 2 chest of drawers, en suite bathroom with walk in rain  shower, bath, basin, sink, WC. Interconnects into dressing room with double wardrobe and built in drawers.

Small double bedroom (sleeps 2 or 1), small double bed, wardrobe, door to Jack and Jill bathroom with bath, walled shower, double sink and WC. Door to:

Second floor

Cabin room (sleeps 2 children), 2 single cabin beds, drawers units. Height restricted. 

Twin room (sleeps 2), 2 single beds (can be made into a double), chest of drawers, hanging space. En suite bathroom with sunken bath, WC, sink and shower. Height restricted. 


Parking for 4 cars

Partly walled garden, mainly open lawn with football goal. Gravelled drive to exterior gates. 

Patio terrace has seating for 8, umbrella  

Gas central heating.  

What you need to know

Escombe House sleeps 8 plus 2 children.
Mind you head! - Please be advised that the 2nd (top) floor is height restricted due to low ceiling. This floor is ideal for children.
The top floor cabin room has 2 single cabin beds, the twin room next door can be made up with twin beds or 1 double. Please advise the booking team. 
This property does not accept hen and stag parties, weddings etc. 
Logs for 1 night provided.
There is a bus stop outside your holiday home bringing you to Canterbury (number 11). 
Escombe House may consider a pet.  Please call the booking team to enquire.
