About Bonnington Cottage
"The cottage was a lovely space; ideal for couples or a small family. It was welcoming, comfortable, well-furnished and makes an ideal base for exploring Kent. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was at the cottage." - The Globe Trotter (July, 2018)
Bonnington Cottage started life as a 15th century granary and was converted to a farmhouse in the Victorian era. After much love and attention, it has been transformed into a beautiful holiday home with a chocolate box exterior and elegant country style interior.
Perfect for relaxing breaks all year, the pretty cottage garden can be enjoyed in the summer, and in colder months the warm and snug sitting room has a cosy wood burner.
The modern kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one master bedroom with kingsize bed and one twin room, so ideal for small families or two couples.
Bonnington Cottage sits within the Goodnestone Park country estate owned by Lord and Lady Fitzwalter. Guests can visit the beautiful gardens once favoured by Jane Austen whose brother married into the Fitzwalter family. The gardens are open to the public from April to September each year.
Within walking distance is the pretty village of Goodnestone. The local pub The Fitzwalter Arms, offers good food, a warm welcome to dogs, and their owners!
The cottage is located on a quiet country lane and surrounded by lovely walks. Further afield is the historic City of Canterbury with its Cathedral, museums, art galleries, cafes and restaurants. And just a short drive away is the lovely East Kent coastline with the historic towns of Sandwich, Deal and Walmer all worth a visit.
