The Customs House was built in 1850, to collect duties for cargo arriving via the Thames estuary into Faversham. It is an imposing building on the banks of the creek just a few minutes walk from the main centre of town. The views over the creek are lovely, and there are a number of circular walks to enjoy this area on foot. The house sits on Standard Quay which today is a thriving place to visit, offering antique shops, cafes and garden centre, and is a chance to see Faversham's living history. It is also home to several classic ships and boats including barges such as the Cambria and Greta as well as traditional fishing boats, classic tugs and overnight moorings of all sorts!
The house itself has been transformed into a stunning and elegant holiday home with ten bedrooms and five shower rooms over three floors. There are seven kingsize bedrooms, two twin rooms (which can also be super kingsize bedrooms on request) and one sitting room with a double sofa bed. On the ground floor is a large, sociable split level dining room and well equipped kitchen and doors lead out to a garden and paved patio, perfect for summer time entertaining. A separate sitting room has a cosy feel with sofas, a gas woodburner and Smart TV. This is a gorgeous, luxury holiday home in a great location - you won't be disappointed!
