"Owned and brought to life by the personal touches and subtle presence of the nearby situated Bailie's - both kind and helpful, but not in any way intrusive - the restoration of a 16th Century Farmhouse to its full glory in an 'easy English' style has been executed in a way that the pair should be proud of." - Samata Home (June, 2018). Take your imagination back 500 years and this perfect example of a traditional English farmhouse was just beginning to take shape! Lovingly restored with a designers' careful eye, the exposed beams, inglenook fireplace and curved walls bring its heritage to life and allow you to appreciate the history of this classic farmhouse.
Downstairs offers a spacious kitchen with breakfast table, and a large sitting room leading through to a lovely dining room - a great space to gather together to enjoy a relaxed meal over a glass of wine. Upstairs provides four well-proportioned bedrooms and 2 shared bathrooms - one with a roll-top bath. Even when bringing the kids, parents can enjoy a well-deserved soak in the bubbles!
There is a large lawned garden enclosed by split rail fences and hedging for the children and dogs to explore outside. This Grade II listed self-catering farmhouse is also surrounded by rolling pastures, woodland in the High Weald AONB, an idyllic preserve of beautiful Sussex countryside and farmland that is rare to find - and a joy to discover.
Bring a book, bring your boots, put something in the Aga to slow cook and wind back the clock to a more relaxed pace of life.
The service was fantastic, we couldn't have faulted that. The cottage was stunning and I would most definitely return! The only reason I didn't provide a full 5 star was due to the number of ladybirds and dead bugs in the cottage, I know this is part and parcel of an older cottage but one of the bedrooms almost had a ladybird convention happening.
Service rating : Pretty cottage in an amazing location Product : Pretty cottage in an amazing location.
Thank you for your lovely feedback.
Service rating : Great service, more payment options for overseas customers would be helpful. Product : The cottage is beautifully situated at the bottom of a hill on the owners estate. We couldn't have hoped for a more peaceful and secluded location. You are so far from the owner's house that you never get the feeling there are any other people nearby. You can walk into the woods right by the cottage and explore. The cottage itself is traditionally furnished - perhaps somewhat dated by modern standards, but quite comfortable. The kitchen with seperate seating is lovely, although the AGA made it uncomfortable warm during our stay (during the 2018 heat wave). The building has plenty of character although some of the beams and ceilings are very low. Anyone over 6ft will have to mind their heads in most parts of the property, which was somewhat unconfortable for us. A bonus is that the internet at the property is very fast and stable.
Thank you ever so much for your very lovely and informative feedback, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, and we will be sure to pass these comments on to the owner for their consideration. In reference to payment options for overseas customers, I will be sure to look in to this and make amendments where possible.
We hope to see you again in the near future.
