Things to do in Margate
Ideal for the whole family, take a trip to one of Margate’s main attractions, Dreamland. Famously known as one of England’s best-loved amusement parks, Dreamland reopened its doors to the public in 2015 after a £18m restoration. Including restoring the iconic Scenic Railway, which is the oldest roller coaster in the world and being only two remaining in England. With many more rides to enjoy, food stalls and events throughout the year. Dreamland is definitely a must on your to-do lists.
For good old seaside fun, make sure to head down to Margate seafront. The golden sandy beaches are perfect for a family day by the sea, with a bucket and spade in hand. Completed with an ice cream or two, the whole family will be pleased. It isn’t just for Summer, the beach is yours. Take a winter’s stroll along the empty seafront. You could even bring the dog.
Margate is known for its up and coming art scene. Standing proudly on Margate’s seafront is The Turner Contemporary, one of England’s leading art galleries, showcasing historic and modern artwork. After having a look around the gallery, why not walk into Margate’s old town, there are many retro and vintage boutiques to explore, as well as eateries and seafood stalls.
