Settled in the High Weald, Tenterden itself has much to offer including a steam railway meandering along the valley to Bodiam Castle and a wonderful selection of vineyards and apple orchards ideal for a visit or a tasting.

Lovers of history will also enjoy the town’s heritage trail, which includes many historic churches and buildings, as well as The Kent and East Sussex Railway. This independently owned railway has been lovingly rebuilt and is operated by a charity organisation for lovers of this esteemed piece of Kentish history. Climb aboard and enjoy their fantastically restored steam trains that will take you all the way from the town to Bodiam where you can visit the wonderful castle – a great day out!
For walking holidays, Tenterden is a brilliant place to stay. You’ll enjoy the woods and many rolling hills that are close by, which are great for dog-walking and pet friendly holidays near Tenterden and the surrounding areas.
There are also numerous castles within a short drive of Tenterden, as well as vineyards and numerous outdoor activity centres to visit. And if you prefer to cycle, there are miles and miles of cycle paths throughout the immediate area and Kent as a whole – there really is nowhere better to enjoy the great outdoors.
