Cottages near the Ashdown Forest

If you love walking and hiking over unspoilt terrain, you've come to the right place.  The Ashdown Forest covers an area of 1000 acres of undulating countryside, with fabulous views and total tranquility and amazingly enough, just a little over an hour from London.  Originally the hunting ground of King Henry VIII, The Ashdown Forest is home to some wonderful pubs, resting places for the weary huntsmen in medieval times.

Home to AA Milne, the creator of Winnie the Pooh, The Ashdown Forest is a joy for generations of families who loved the books.  You can visit many of the areas in the famous Winnie the Pooh books -  pop down to Pooh Bridge for a little game of Pooh Sticks and then walk up on the top of the Forest to gaze down at Eyore's Lonely Place or try and work out which tree is The Lone Pine.  If you like to get the children out for some fresh air and fun, The Ashdown Forest has great appeal, brilliant for dog walkers and great for fitness and there's a great Visitors' Centre to learn all about the wildlife and nature of the surrounding area.
