About Bonnington Cottage

Introduction

"\\The cottage was a lovely space ideal for couples or a small family. It was welcoming comfortable well-furnished and makes an ideal base for exploring Kent. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was at the cottage.\\ - The Globe Trotter July 2018\nBonnington Cottage started life as a 15th century granary and was converted to a farmhouse in the Victorian era. After much love and attention it has been transformed into a beautiful holiday home with a chocolate box exterior and elegant country style interior.\nPerfect for relaxing breaks all year the pretty cottage garden can be enjoyed in the summer and in colder months the warm and snug sitting room has a cosy wood burner.\nThe modern kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Upstairs there are two bedrooms one master bedroom with kingsize bed and one twin room so ideal for small families or two couples.\nBonnington Cottage sits within the Goodnestone Park country estate owned by Lord and Lady Fitzwalter. Guests can visit the beautiful gardens once favoured by Jane Austen whose brother married into the Fitzwalter family. The gardens are open to the public from April to September each year.\nWithin walking distance is the pretty village of Goodnestone. The local pub The Fitzwalter Arms offers good food a warm welcome to dogs and their owners\nThe cottage is located on a quiet country lane and surrounded by lovely walks. Further afield is the historic City of Canterbury with its Cathedral museums art galleries cafes and restaurants. And just a short drive away is the lovely East Kent coastline with the historic towns of Sandwich Deal and Walmer all worth a visit."

We did not get entry information sent to us as needed and had to contact when we were there.. Fortunately we got there before close of office hours. The property Bonnington Cottage was a beautiful cottage in picturesque surrounding with all modern cons... All round great place to stay..peaceful warm and off road parking. Recent refurbished so it all seemed new. Sadly There is a stair case that is very very steep to get up to the bedrooms and bathroom. We had a 86 year with us and it caused us some serious issues.. although we loved the house we would not have booked it had we known about the access to the first floor. Even the fitter of us found it challenging... must be put in the details!! We had 3 very near misses with slips!!! It would have been perfect in the lounge in front of the log burner if there was another comfortable sofa so all 4 of us could have sat and relaxed. The one which is there is great but the 2 small chairs are not made to spend an evening in front of the fire in. The building is old and crooked which is part of the pleasure... however the beds have not had riser blocks to level them up and this made them uncomfortable to sleep in... we used 2 split logs to level ours up a bit which made for a better nights sleep. The access details are not published and NEED to be as although beautiful and peaceful etc... it is not for anyone that is not fully fit......... Description of premises accurate and booking procedure straightforward & stress free. Setting delightful & cottage beautifully furnished & full of charm. Directions to location need improvement -ie Love Lane is not signposted at junction with main road and is difficult to spot. It would be helpful if your directions specify just how far up Love Lane Goodestone Court and the cottage are situated. Arriving after dark we found the key box and the front door particularly difficult to open. The owners might consider the practicality of fitting a second handrail to the stairway.

Trouble free stay at Bonnington Cottage. Everything was as stated. Photographs gave good idea of accommodation.

The automatic email confirmation worked well but there was no confirmation email from the owners so we travelled anyhow with no key pick up details. Was easily resolved as mulberry had sent us a contact number of the manager who lived locally who popped up and made sure we were sorted. We did book late so probably the reason. Loved the place, garden could do with more regular maintenance but it was a home from home and perfect location for travelling around kent. Good local pubs too!

Le cottage était très bien. Le server de Mulberry cottages également. Je recommanderai les deux. Joli cottage dans une jolie campagne anglaise, à proximité de Canterbury. Un week-end parfait !

Have used Mulberry Cottages a number of times and found it easy to book and always pleased with our properties. Beautiful cottage, Beautiful countryside, very comfortable stay and standard of presentation and furnishings were excellent. Only downside was the stairs, but what do you expect from a cottage of this period. (would not stop us revisiting).
