The cottage initially had no electricity due to the fact that the heated towel rail tripped the fuse box, and the fuse box was inaccessible being in the owner's own house and the owner was away on holiday. The facilities are described as basic in the website but are more basic than described in that the kitchen sink is only a wash hand basin and is impractical for washing up dirty pots and pans. The cottage does not have use of a wood burning stove- this is marked as out of action. The whole place smells strongly of smoke so i presume someone must have tried unsuccessfully to light the stove. The place was dirty with dust and cobwebs. Had there been a vacuum cleaner i would have used it. There was just a dustpan and brush. The gap under the bedroom chest of drawers was very dirty. On the owner's return he just advised us not to use the towel rail which trips the electric meter- no effort to get it repaired. Therefore it was difficult to dry towels. No instructions are provided for the use of the one ring induction hob- using it was a juggling act as there is nowhere suitable and safe to operate it and leave hot pans (there was just one large pan and a frying pan- both cannot be used at the same time). We had to use the internet to find out how to use the induction hob. The front door sticks (as owner advised in a telephone message received on our journey down to Dorset) but takes a hefty push with the shoulder to open it and ultimately caused shoulder pain. There are no safety instructions as would be expected- i.e emergency telephone numbers. The crushed limestone path up to the front door trailed into the "cottage' and there is no door mat, so this makes it worse. There is a woven wicker 'gate' across the path to the cottage which cannot be opened completely because it is not on proper hinges, therefore it leans forward into the path and has to be negotiated every time you leave or enter the cottage. The parking is a problem because it leads directly onto the road and is on a blind corner for vehicles approaching from the right- we had 2 near collisions. Owner needs to place a convex mirror on the opposite side of the road so on-coming vehicles can be seen.

Lovely accommodation, friendly hosts, fantastic location. Really enjoyable stay and close to many fantastic walks/beaches. Really enjoyable and would recommend it to everyone. Had all the basics for self catering and a lovely little enclosed outdoor area. It was great that we were able to take the dog with it being dog friendly - he settled in nicely and had a great time too!

I do not want to write a negative review because this property is set in a beautiful location. The owner was very nice and friendly. However The issue we had was the internet did not work particularly well at all which was an important factor for me working from home and still doing so for a couple of days of our stay. There was also no phone coverage inside the property and very little outside. If you would like a very peaceful break this is the place because it is set in beautiful surroundings but we found the lack of internet, phone coverage and no television (this was advertised this way but we thought with internet coverage no problem) a little difficult after a few days. The facilities to cook are adequate but basic. Again all advertised this way so no complaints but just to highlight you could not cook a roast dinner say! A beautiful cottage with really nice owners just wanted to point out the lack of connection, take plenty of games and cards.

My husband and I stayed at Carnotze for our honeymoon. The cottage would benefit from a sign on the road just to make it a bit easier to find. The cottage itself was lovely, perfect for a week away with our dog. There was no TV, which we really appreciated as it helped to enhance our quality time together. The bed was comfortable and the shower was perfect. We made great use of the bbq and hot plate supplied. There isn't a pub in the local village, but there are some lovely pubs a short drive away in gorgeous countryside.

Lovely hosts and accommodation.Very quiet.Enjoyed our 2 night stay very much.There is a microwave but NO tv, this wasn’t a problem for us.Some cobwebs on ceiling and window ledge. Will be coming back when visiting our friend in Dorset
